Music Teacher - Cultural Educator

Sollentuna Cultural School is looking for two driven and outgoing music teachers or teachers in other artistic subjects to develop the school's outreach work in disadvantaged areas.

This is a new and unique position where you can combine pedagogical competence with creative creation, relationship building, and community engagement. Here you will meet young people where they are, inspire through the power of music, and shape an operation that truly matters.

The Cultural School is organized under the Culture and Leisure Office, which is also responsible for general cultural activities, library services, sports and leisure activities for children and young people aged 13 - 20, tourism, and lottery operations. Approximately 25 teachers work at the cultural school, distributed across the subjects of music, dance, visual arts, and theater.

Job Responsibilities

In this new and broad role, you will help shape a completely new type of outreach cultural pedagogical activity. You will work closely with primary schools, other units within the Culture and Leisure Office, and local actors in the municipality to create low-threshold activities that awaken children's and young people's creativity and curiosity for learning.

You will design and lead free group activities in music, dance, visual arts, theater, or other art forms, both in school environments and at the Cultural School, where activities every third weekend are included as a natural part of the assignment. The work often takes place in project form, where certain initiatives can develop into more permanent operations.

For example, you could lead bands, dance and music workshops, arrange film screenings followed by discussions, or create entirely new cultural meetings that combine creativity and social community in a learning environment. An important part of the position is to work directly in classrooms in schools during daytime or early afternoon.

This is a role for you who want to be mobile, relationship-building, and creative, and who is passionate about developing the Cultural School's mission together with others.

In Sollentuna municipality, there is a special development assignment called No Disadvantaged Areas 2030, which aims to improve living conditions, increase safety, and prevent children in marginalized areas from being recruited into crime. We do this, among other things, by creating opportunities for meaningful leisure time, which strengthens the protective factors around children and young people from families with vulnerable living conditions. This is a promotional effort where the position of Music Teacher - Cultural Educator plays an important role, not only by reaching out to new target groups but also by lowering the barriers to the Cultural School's other activities.

Requirements Profile

• At least a number of years of experience and solid experience in leading larger groups of children and young people in some artistic or cultural expression.
• Documented experience of pedagogical work, preferably in varied learning environments.
• Comfortable working in project form and driving activities from idea to implementation.
• Experience working in school environments and confident in the role of educator in classroom situations.
• University degree as a music teacher or other artistic pedagogical education that we deem relevant.

As a person, you have the ability to work both independently and in a team. You are an active and engaged person who thrives in a mobile, collaborative, and outgoing role.

• Express oneself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Driver's license B
• Evening and weekend work is included
• A practical teaching test applies to final candidates as part of the process
• A background check will be conducted for this position
• Start date in the autumn term August 2026
