The role of the procurement officer at the Procurement Unit means that you will work as an independent project manager and assist the organization in procurement throughout the entire process. This typically includes needs analysis, market analysis, procurement strategy, and procurement work. The job also involves active and continuous contract follow-up and advising on purchasing issues to the city's various operations.
The current procurement position is within the service section.
In your role as a procurement officer, you will have many contacts both internally with the city's various operational areas and externally with different suppliers. Therefore, it is required that you have good communication skills and that you can adapt your message to different target groups and individuals both in written and oral form. You have an interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to deliver business-oriented solutions. You have the ability to create good professional relationships, are attentive, and easy to collaborate with.
There is a continuous improvement process regarding the city's purchases, and you are expected to contribute to moving the development forward. Therefore, we are looking for someone with great commitment and interest in development work, particularly in the area of sustainability and circular business.
The Procurement Unit consists of individuals with different experiences and competencies. We strive for a culture of sharing experiences and developing together.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A bachelor's degree (180 credits) in economics, logistics/purchasing, law, or engineering. Alternatively, other education focused on strategic purchasing or procurement that is deemed relevant.
- Experience from the public sector or private companies related to the purchasing/procurement side or supplier side.
Meritorious:
- Experience with category management
- Experience with sustainability-focused/circular business
- Training in project management.

You are self-driven, take responsibility for your tasks, and move your processes forward in a thoughtful manner. You have good problem-solving and analytical skills and enjoy working with complex issues that require you to break down and understand problems in their parts. As a person, you are confident, stable, and show good self-awareness, with the ability to distinguish between the professional and the personal. You communicate clearly, ensure that messages are conveyed, and follow up when necessary. You are quality-conscious and meticulous, focusing on delivering according to set goals and standards. Additionally, you have excellent collaboration skills and work attentively and constructively with others.
About the Workplace
The Procurement Unit, which is part of the Finance Department at the City Office, has an overarching responsibility to guide all procurement activities in the city of Malmö and its companies. The Procurement Unit is divided into four sections, three of which work with procurement activities, and the fourth section deals with sustainability issues and analysis.
The unit is responsible for conducting city-wide procurements but also works with administrative-specific procurement matters. Currently, the Procurement Unit consists of about 40 people, most of whom are procurement officers with independent responsibility for specific contract areas. The Procurement Unit consists of engaged, driven, and competent employees, and you will have the opportunity to work in an inspiring collegial environment with ongoing professional development in relevant areas. There are both shops and lunch restaurants just around the corner.

The City Office consists of six different departments and has a total of about 300 employees.
