We are a habilitation team within Audiology with many professionals working with hearing-impaired/deaf children and their families.

We are now looking for a speech therapist to join our habilitation team as the current speech therapist will be on parental leave for about a year. The work is very varied, and we meet children/youth individually and in groups, as well as families, educators, and other professionals involved with the child. The team is located at the Central Hospital in Karlstad but operates throughout the county.

Your Responsibilities

The position includes, among other things, linguistic assessment and treatment, information and education regarding hearing and language for parents and preschool/school, as well as regular work in children's groups. Since we work in a team, it means that we conduct joint patient visits together.

You will receive support and the opportunity to gain knowledge about children with hearing impairments and their language development, with opportunities for study visits. Reading time is included in the position.

Your Skills/Competencies

To be qualified for the position, you must be a licensed speech therapist. Since the tasks are highly specialized concerning children with hearing impairments, it is beneficial if you have at least one year of experience in the field. It is also an advantage if you have knowledge of hearing loss, AVT (auditory verbal therapy) training, experience working with children and habilitation work in families, and/or knowledge of sign language.

As a person, you find it easy to collaborate with others. You have a positive and problem-solving attitude with the ability to see opportunities instead of obstacles. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, and the workgroup has significant participation in the recruitment process.

A driver's license is required as travel is involved in the position.
