Make a Difference. Every Day.
Do you want to help build a new specialist service while contributing to the development of care for patients with long-term post-infectious symptoms? We are now looking for two doctors, at least one of whom should be a senior physician, for our new Rehabilitation Clinic for post-infectious symptoms within the management of Close Care and Health.
The Rehabilitation Clinic for post-infectious symptoms in Malmö is being established to provide structured and equitable care for patients with long-term post-infectious symptoms such as post-COVID and ME/CFS. The service will start on April 1 and has a regional mandate within the Southern Healthcare Region.
The clinic will accept individuals over 18 years old with at least six months of symptoms following an infection or other long-term and complex fatigue conditions, where other somatic or psychiatric causes have been excluded. The patient group often presents a complex symptom profile including pronounced fatigue, post-exertional malaise (PEM), pain, cognitive difficulties, and reduced functional ability. The work is team-based and interprofessional, focusing on in-depth assessments, initiation of treatment and rehabilitation, as well as planned return to primary care and local rehabilitation resources.
The service is located in Malmö on the hospital grounds in newly renovated premises and is co-located with other rehabilitation services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a senior physician at the post-infectious clinic, you will play a central role in the medical work and in building the service. The assignment includes structured medical assessments and in-depth rehabilitation investigations of patients with complex and long-term post-infectious symptoms. You will be responsible for medical decisions, initiation and follow-up of treatment, as well as coordination of additional medical investigations as needed. The role includes initiating and following up treatment, primarily in the form of symptom-relieving interventions and medical measures that support the rehabilitation process.
The work is team-based together with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and psychologists, based on a person-centered approach. You will actively participate in the team’s rehabilitation assessments, planning, and follow-up, and contribute to a common, evidence-based working method. The role also includes collaboration with primary care, other healthcare providers, and if necessary, external actors, such as the Social Insurance Agency, as well as dialogue and feedback to referrers. In addition to clinical work, you are expected to contribute to the development of the clinic through work on care processes, routines, referral criteria, quality, and knowledge dissemination.
With us, you will have a central role in establishing a new specialist clinic with significant patient value, with good opportunities to influence working methods and the development of care processes. The position also offers the opportunity to contribute to knowledge development, service development, and educational initiatives in an area that is under strong development and where the need for specialized care is great.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for two senior physicians, but there is also the opportunity to work as a specialist physician for those interested.
You who apply are a licensed physician with a specialist certificate and several years of well-documented clinical experience as a specialist. Language proficiency in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale is a requirement.
Specialist competence in rehabilitation medicine is meritorious, but specialist training in general medicine, infectious diseases, neurology, or another internal medicine specialty deemed relevant by the employer may also be applicable. Experience working with patients with long-term post-infectious symptoms, such as post-COVID and/or ME/CFS, is meritorious, as is familiarity with team-based rehabilitation and rehabilitation medical assessments.
You are confident in your medical role and have the ability to independently take responsibility for advanced medical assessments in complex conditions, where both medical and rehabilitation needs need to be weighed together. You work systematically and carefully with documentation and medical decisions, and have good communication skills towards patients, relatives, and collaborators.
Supervisory and consultative experience, interest in knowledge development, improvement work, and service development, as well as academic merits such as research, teaching, or publications are meritorious. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
