Product Specialist
Would you like to contribute to the safer use of medicines and vaccines for everyone everywhere? We are looking for a Product Specialist to support our two product portfolios. You will join a multicultural and dynamic organisation with a clear focus on improving patient safety globally.
Since 1978, Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) has been dedicated to developing, supporting, and expanding the field of pharmacovigilance science and practice.
As a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre, we support work around the world to examine the potential adverse effects of medicines and vaccines and contribute to safer, more informed care of patients.
We are a diverse, international group of pharmacists, physicians, data scientists, system developers, communicators, and many other professionals motivated by a deep belief that the work we do matters.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced, tech-savvy life science professional to join our team of Product specialists.
You will report to the Head of VigiBase and Regulatory Services.
What you will do
- Support customers by advising on the use of the products within the product portfolios and by identifying specific customer needs to help them get the most value from their investment and use the products successfully.
- Make sure users understand the full potential of the products so they can make the best use of them.
- Support product development and life cycle management by sharing expert knowledge of customers’ experiences with the products.
- Contribute to product training materials, documentation, and marketing content.
- Work with external stakeholders such as national regulatory authorities, national immunisation programmes, and pharmaceutical industry customers, as well as internal stakeholders from different departments.
- Collaborate with WHO and member organisations in the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring on awareness-raising and capacity-building efforts related to the relevant products, including taking part in face-to-face and virtual training activities.
- Act as second-line support and provide sales support to ensure customer satisfaction by:
- Answering product-related questions
- Explaining product benefits in virtual meetings and webinars
- Presenting and representing the portfolios at international meetings and events
- Taking part in product demonstrations for customers, staff, and other stakeholders
Who you are
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a BSc in a life science subject such as engineering, pharmacy, chemistry, or similar. Alternatively, another university degree combined with extensive experience in the life science field.
- Is fluent in written and spoken English.
- Has excellent communication and networking skills.
- Has at least three years experience in product support or a similar role.
- Enjoys working close to technology and collaborating with developers and technical specialists.
- Is curious about how systems work and comfortable discussing technical topics.
- Is able to travel 1-4 times a year.
It is an advantage if you:
- Have documented experience in software support or similar work in the life science field (regulatory or pharmaceutical industry).
- Know additional languages (e.g., French, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian).
- Have experience in intercultural communication.
- Have experience in MedDRA coding from a regulatory or industry perspective.
As a person, we would like you to have:
- Strong communication skills: the ability to communicate clearly, inspire interest, listen, interpret, and understand customers' needs, and instruct and educate users.
- Analytical skills to anticipate and solve problems, combined with a pragmatic approach to taking action.
- Creativity to develop solutions and new product ideas based on feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to bring structure and clarity to complex issues.
- Commitment, drive, and strong social skills to work well with others.
