In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.
Steril Technical Unit
The Steril Technical Unit, located at Visby Hospital, produces, provides, and delivers medical technical products to approximately 60 customers within and outside the hospital's organization.
We primarily work with cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, function testing, maintaining, packaging, and sterilizing instruments.
Currently, seven permanent employees work in the unit. We are a cutting-edge unit and continuously work on quality and development within our specialties.
Your Responsibilities
Since the steril technical unit lacks its own washing center, the steril technician assists the operating department on-site with cleaning and disinfection of instruments after surgeries. After cleaning and disinfection, the items are sent to the sterilization center via an elevator.
The operation has various areas of responsibility. One responsibility concerns sorting, where all items received that do not come from surgery are handled. In the packing room, instruments are checked, maintained, function tested, packaged, and sterilized. Items are stored in the sterile store or released to customers. The operation is also a separate area of responsibility.
We are a small unit with seven employees, which requires broad knowledge among staff and occasional independent work. You rotate weekly between areas of responsibility to create a varied work environment and maintain competence.
Who Are You?
We see that you who are applying have completed instrument and steril technician training with passing grades from a vocational college. Experience in steril technical work or surgical operations is an advantage.
As there are heavy lifts involved, it is a prerequisite that you have good physical condition. You possess great flexibility and a good ability to find solutions. We prefer that you are service-oriented and have a professional approach as we have close collaboration with customers.
We are a certified operation where the quality system requires engagement from all employees. We use an electronic traceability system, so it is beneficial if you have computer skills.
Attention to detail and stress resilience are important qualities, as is being a good communicator. Since this is an emergency hospital, you should also enjoy working in an organized manner and sometimes at a fast pace.
Evening and night shifts as well as solitary work may occur, where you need to be able to make independent decisions. It is important that you have strategic thinking with a broad perspective and understand how your actions affect the long term.
Before hiring decisions, a background check is conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
