Adult Psychiatry

The psychiatric area of operations is part of Region Gotland's health and medical care and provides inpatient care, emergency reception, outpatient care, addiction treatment, as well as child and adolescent psychiatry.

The operation is located in Visby and serves the entire island as its catchment area. Gotland has just over 60,000 residents, making the operation small compared to what it can be on the mainland. Despite this, the breadth and variation in what we encounter are largely the same. The island location means that we need to manage a lot on our own, which places demands on a relatively rich treatment offering and a multifaceted competence.

Approximately 140 employees from various professions work within adult psychiatry. Continuous improvement work is carried out with a focus on care content, care pathways, and care processes, as well as accessibility and a well-functioning interdisciplinary collaboration.

Among the employees, there is a regular group of doctors consisting of 10 physicians, half of whom are specialists and half are residents. In addition to these, we have interns and rotating residents with us for varying periods, as well as hired specialists as needed. The medical group has a very solid collective psychiatric competence and experience, as well as great experience in providing consultative support and supervision to less experienced medical colleagues.

Your Tasks

As a junior doctor, you will primarily work at our outpatient clinic with scheduled appointments, which may include assessments, annual follow-ups, and other planned return visits. It may be necessary to be on-call during the day/primary on-call as needed and to make medical assessments in acute cases, with an experienced specialist as backup and after special introduction. You will have access to consultative support as needed throughout your employment, and you will be provided with an introductory package that may be together with a training physician.

We have a need for junior doctors for summer vacancies but are also happy to receive applications for other periods.

Who Are You?

Medical education, at least term 10, alternatively graduated but not yet licensed physician. You can of course also be a licensed physician who wants to try working in psychiatry.

We would like you to have some previous experience working with psychiatric patients or individuals with mental disabilities.
