About the Unit

The Swedish Armed Forces Diving and Naval Medicine Center (FM DNC) is part of the Naval Warfare School (SSS) that supports the naval units with training, development, and exercises. FM DNC is one of the world's most modern facilities for research and education in the underwater arena. It is a competence center for the Armed Forces' diving operations with operational training, development, diving medicine, and diving safety. Your workplace is located at Lindholmen within the Örlogshamnen in Karlskrona. Here, you will work in a team consisting of about twenty employees, both civilian and military, with various backgrounds and areas of expertise.

Main Responsibilities

As a nurse at FM DNC, you will have a varied and important role in a unique operation where medicine, research, and development meet. You will be part of a team with nurses and doctors, but the composition of colleagues varies with the tasks. The position is primarily administrative, but there is an opportunity for clinical duties.

  • Plan and participate in the diving medical activities and administer medical materials within the unit.
  • Support units in the diving medical field and be responsible for planning and conducting training in diving medicine within the Armed Forces.
  • Provide medical support during exercises and testing activities.
  • Participate in and develop diving medical care in hyperbaric systems and contribute to diving medical research and technology development.
  • Collaborate with other external healthcare providers in the diving medical field.

Qualifications

  • Licensed nurse with further education in emergency care, anesthesia, or intensive care and at least two years of work experience in the field. Knowledge must be current.
  • Approved medical fitness certificate for work in a pressurized environment (SUB1) (the examination is conducted during the recruitment process).
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.

Personal Qualities

As a nurse at FM DNC, you need to be confident in your professional role and have the ability to work both independently and in a team, taking the initiative to drive work forward. You are meticulous and structured, with a good ability to plan, prioritize, and maintain an overview even when the pace is high or situations change rapidly. You have a natural communicative ability, can convey information clearly and professionally, and build trust in interactions with colleagues and partners. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability in the appointment of this position.

MERITORIOUS

  • Experience in hyperbaric medical service or certification in completed hyperbaric medical training with approved results.
  • Completed A-CPR training.
  • Previous experience from the Armed Forces or work in marine environments.
  • Experience working in a pre-hospital environment.

Employment Type

Civil permanent employment. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the authority. Travel may occur in the position.
