We are now looking for someone who is engaged and curious about child and adolescent psychiatry.

BUP in Blekinge consists of two outpatient clinics in Karlshamn and Karlskrona, as well as a care department with three beds. Adjacent to the care department, there is also an emergency reception that is open during the day. The emergency services are located in Karlskrona, close to other emergency services within psychiatry.

The emergency services have a close collaboration with outpatient care.

This is a temporary position during the summer months with the possibility of extension in the fall.

Job responsibilities – junior doctor in round-the-clock care (BUP)

As a junior doctor in round-the-clock care and the emergency reception in child and adolescent psychiatry, you will work with children and adolescents with severe psychiatric issues that require care around the clock or urgent assessments during the day. The work is done in close collaboration with experienced specialists and a multidisciplinary team.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Participating in psychiatric assessments during admission and discharge
• Assisting in diagnostics, treatment planning, and follow-up
• Participating in ward rounds and daily care planning together with the Chief Physician and the team
• Managing acute psychiatric conditions under supervision
• Collaborating with guardians, outpatient care, social services, and other stakeholders
• Documenting in patient records and contributing to patient safety.

You will always work with access to a specialist and receive support in decision-making. The assignment is tailored to your experience and level of education.

Learning and support

The round-the-clock care offers a broad and intensive clinical experience in child and adolescent psychiatry. As a junior doctor with us, you will receive:

• Structured introduction to the working methods of round-the-clock care
• Regular supervision by a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry
• Opportunities to develop skills in acute conditions, suicide assessments, and comorbidity
• A supportive team where questions and reflections are a natural part of the work

The position involves daytime work.

About you

We are primarily looking for someone who is a licensed physician or has a medical degree. Medical students are also welcome to apply, provided that by the start of employment you have completed 10 semesters of the medical program at a Swedish university or an institution within the EU/EEA with approved grades. We can adapt the position for you with education from a country outside the EU/EEA to meet the requirements for practical training. Previous work experience in psychiatric care is an advantage.

You need to have an interest in psychiatry.

To succeed in your role, you need to have good collaboration and communication skills and a genuine interest in meeting children and families in vulnerable situations.

Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period. Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in a crisis placement. Some of our positions are security classified, where the employee must undergo a security clearance interview and background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
