Recreation Leader at Skarpnäck District Administration

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Skarpnäck District Administration offers you a workplace where active employee participation and clear leadership are the foundation for providing the best services to the residents of Stockholm. Since we collectively create our work environment, openness, respect, and responsiveness are essential.

Welcome to us

The Prevention and Safety Unit is responsible for leisure centers, holiday activities, field assistants, SSPF, and support for children’s relatives.

In our team, engaged recreation leaders and social workers work together to create attractive and quality activities for young people aged 13–17 years.

Our mission is to offer safe and inclusive meeting places where everyone feels welcome and can participate on their own terms. With us, young people can explore their interests, develop their ideas, and carry out their own projects – with the support of trusted adults.

We collaborate closely with field assistants, schools, police, and civil society to meet the needs of our target group – both in our activities and in the district.

We are now looking for someone who wants to contribute to our promotional work and create a meaningful and inspiring leisure time for young people in Skarpnäck, with a background in culture through music, theater, dance, or similar.

We offer

With us, you will work in a dynamic and developing environment where we value diversity, competence, and individual interests. You will be part of a team that works for both the best interests of the youth and for each other's development and well-being.

As an employee of the City of Stockholm, you will be offered, among other things:

  • Wellness allowance
  • Subsidized membership cards for the city's swimming pools and outdoor pools
  • Discounted prices at several major gym chains
  • Opportunity for vacation exchange

Your role

As a recreation leader, you are an inspirer and enabler. You support young people in realizing their ideas and strengthen their participation in shaping the activities. Together with colleagues, you plan and implement an attractive and varied activity program, always in dialogue with the target group.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Planning and implementing leisure activities, focusing on open operations
  • Collaborating with schools, associations, and other external actors
  • Contributing to the development of the content of the activities

You have a particular responsibility for the aesthetic direction of Skarpnäck's leisure centers and for expanding our collaboration with the Culture House. This means you will drive and develop activities in areas such as dance, music, theater, and other cultural forms. You will organize workshops and projects and create a creative environment that encourages participation and engagement.

The Skarpnäck District Administration operates three leisure centers in Skarpnäck, Bagarmossen, and Björkhagen, as well as park play areas. Your primary placement will be at Skarpnäck's leisure center, but work at other activities within the unit is included.

The working hours follow a two-week schedule with evening and weekend shifts.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a trained recreation leader or has a similar post-secondary education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Has current and relevant experience working with children and young people aged 13 - 17 years.
  • Has documented competence in aesthetic expressions – theater, dance, and culture, etc.
  • Has good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
  • Has knowledge of equality, gender, norm criticism, and LGBTQI issues.

We consider it meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in driving collaboration with associations and civil society.
  • Experience working with youth participation and influence.
  • Experience in project work.

Who are you?

You are creative, secure, and communicative. You have a genuine interest in aesthetic expressions and want to help develop Skarpnäck's initiatives in this area. You have a coaching and mature approach, can see the world from the youth's perspective, and actively work to strengthen their participation, influence, and civic engagement.

We value that you:

  • Are a relationship builder who collaborates well with guardians, police, social services, and other key actors.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the team's development.

With us, you will become part of an engaged team that together creates a safe, inspiring, and meaningful leisure time for young people in Skarpnäck.

Other

Before employment becomes relevant, a criminal record check will be requested. Selection and interviews may occur on an ongoing basis. The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
