Do you want to play an important role in driving the government's aid policy to create better living conditions for people living in poverty and oppression through job creation, trade, and education? The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is now looking for an officer who wants to work with governance issues related to Swedfund International AB – Sweden's development financier – and work with sustainable growth and job creation within Swedish aid.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for a wide range of issues within Sweden's foreign and security policy, development cooperation, and international trade. The Unit for International Development Cooperation is responsible for the overall governance of Swedish aid. The unit is responsible for issues related to Sida, Swedfund, and the Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA) and coordinates policy, budget, and grant issues within expenditure area 7 International Aid. The unit also coordinates Swedish positions within the EU's development cooperation and coordinates issues related to the OECD's Development Assistance Committee (DAC).

As an officer, you have a central role in the government's governance of Swedfund from an aid policy perspective and in driving issues related to sustainable growth and job creation. The position includes, among other things, preparing governance issues related to Swedfund, acting as a contact point between the Ministry and Swedfund, and coordinating the strategy for sustainable growth, green transition, and education. Your work also includes drafting materials and participating in presentations for the political leadership. The work involves extensive contacts with the Ministry's functional and geographical units, other ministries, authorities, and international actors. You will contribute to the implementation of the aid reform agenda, primarily in issues related to sustainable growth, green transition, education, and sustainable investments, including driving synergies between aid, trade, and promotion, as well as effective cooperation in Team Sweden. Other tasks within the unit's areas of responsibility may also arise.
Your background
You have a master's degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years of relevant work experience in international development cooperation within the Government Offices or another authority. You need a good understanding of the demands of working in a politically governed organization. Experience in governance issues related to aid activities that promote economic development is an advantage. You can express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities and are looking for someone who is meticulous, results-oriented, analytical, structured, and has a good ability to initiate, lead, and implement processes. You should have excellent collaboration skills and good communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work against tight deadlines. A good ability to create and maintain networks.
Other
Permanent employment with a start date of June 1, 2026, or by agreement.
The position is classified in a security classification, and a security review with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen.
