Our Operations

Värmdö Municipality is in an expansive growth phase and is facing the challenge of meeting and shaping the future of Värmdö. The Community Building Office has a broad responsibility for comprehensive and strategic sustainable community planning, and water and sewage (VA) is a prioritized area.

The VA unit in Värmdö Municipality is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and expansion of the municipal water and sewage network. Significant investments are currently being made in water and sewage to meet the need for expanded infrastructure.

We are now looking for a Unit Manager for Water and Stormwater, who will be responsible for development work and report to the Head of the VA and Waste Department. The role involves significant strategic and financial responsibility with a comprehensive investment portfolio and personnel responsibility for approximately 13 employees and external consultants.

Your Responsibilities

You have overall responsibility for the expansion of the water and sewage system, the choice of VA technology, and system solutions together with the operations unit.

You are responsible for the project portfolio and project finances, as well as for the facility tax in VA projects.

You lead employees in design, procurement, and project management.

You participate in steering groups for projects and also in construction meetings as needed.

You act as project commissioner, work with consultant procurements/orders, and you have budget and personnel responsibility, conduct systematic work environment efforts, and promote a good work environment.

Your responsibilities also include administration and reporting, and you are expected to create and maintain good collaborations with external actors such as Nacka Water and Waste, Stockholm Water, and Käppala Association.

Since you will operate in a politically governed organization, you will also be a presenter before the committee together with the Head of the VA and Waste Department. You will also collaborate with others within the Community Building Office's departments/units for exploitation, detailed planning work, and Environmental and Health.

Your Experience

We are looking for a senior VA engineer/leader with documented experience in leading complex investment projects, managing procurement contracts, and working at the intersection of politics and service organization.

For this position, it is required that you have:

• A university degree in Natural Sciences, Engineering, or equivalent experience deemed relevant by the employer.
• At least 6 years of experience in VA.
• Driver's license (B).

We also appreciate if you are/have:

• Business-oriented and development-focused with a strong interest in continuing to develop Värmdö Municipality's VA operations with sustainable technology, economy, and environment.
• Familiar with the investment process for VA expansion.
• Negotiation skills.
• Very good knowledge of VA legislation.
• Confident in representing the organization in financially and strategically challenging contexts.
• Confident and competent in various contracting forms for expansion and also procurements.

It is also advantageous if you have experience in a politically governed organization or in VA and Contract Law.
