The Swedish Tax Agency, for example, along with the Social Insurance Agency, is responsible for the AI workshop, which aims to create better conditions for public actors to use AI in a safe, legally secure, and efficient manner.

As a legal expert in our legal department, you will collaborate with colleagues and other authorities across the country with the mission to contribute to a well-functioning society.

About the job

You will work with legal governance and legal development, including regulatory development. Your tasks are varied and complex, which requires your ability to combine knowledge with an understanding of the whole in a changing environment and with new assignments.

Your work will involve writing and preparing the Swedish Tax Agency's regulations, positions, and consultation responses to the Government Offices and other authorities. You will represent the Swedish Tax Agency before the Supreme Administrative Court and the Supreme Court. You will conduct legal investigations for analysis and development of regulations. Furthermore, you will perform analyses for regulatory compliance during the development and implementation of new digital solutions within the agency or in collaboration with other authorities. You will also help update internal legal information.

The department places great importance on dialogue and coordination with other departments and authorities. We act quickly based on emerging needs, and we collaborate and maintain close dialogue with other departments to solve tasks. We are flexible in our working methods, both when forming teams or groupings and in how we adapt our working methods based on the needs of each issue or task.

About you

In this job, you should have:

You should also have:

  • a law degree of 270 credits (180 credits according to the old system) or another equivalent education relevant to the tasks
  • well-developed methodological knowledge and competence to effectively familiarize yourself with various legal areas in your unit, sometimes entirely new to you, as well as in qualified legal investigative work.
  • at least 5 years of current and relevant experience in qualified legal work from public service, e.g., courts, authorities, Government Offices, or equivalent

It is desirable if you have current experience in at least three of the following legal areas: protection of human rights including privacy, security (information and cybersecurity as well as other security, security protection, and preparedness), public access to documents and archive law, procurement and purchasing, various legal areas within civil law (such as contract law, sales law, intellectual property law, competition law), state aid, and various types of sanctions for non-compliance.

We particularly seek experience in the mentioned IT legal areas related to regulatory compliance during digitalization and development with new technology and digital tools in both public administration and crime prevention.

Good to know

The department is a virtual organization. Your manager and colleagues are located in different places across the country, and we communicate with each other and have an extensive digital meeting culture. The placement for the position is by agreement. There is an opportunity to work up to two days a week remotely based on the needs of the operation. The employment is permanent and may begin with a six-month probationary period.

Employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our tasks in the security class, Swedish citizenship is required.
