Department of Subject Education at Stockholm University

The Department of Subject Education belongs to the Faculty of Humanities at Stockholm University.

We primarily conduct teacher education and research within the framework of various school subjects. The department has a particular responsibility for the Primary Teacher Program with a focus on preschool class to grade 6, the Subject Teacher Program, and supplementary pedagogical education. In addition, the Department also offers master's and master's programs as well as external assignments from municipalities and other authorities.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include teaching the didactics of natural sciences within teacher education programs and independent courses, as well as teaching and triadic conversations within the workplace-based part (VFU). The job also includes performing administrative tasks related to the current courses.

Eligibility Requirements

Adjunct teacher is a form of employment for teachers whose main activity is outside of higher education. The position is temporary, possibly with the opportunity for extension, and part-time.

Eligible is one who has completed a teacher's degree in a relevant subject and has demonstrated pedagogical skills. As a general eligibility requirement, the ability to collaborate and otherwise have the suitability required to perform the job tasks well is required.

Assessment Criteria

Knowledge and experience in the didactics of natural sciences through teaching in primary or secondary school. Personal experience in supervising teacher students is meritorious, as well as experience in teaching within teacher education, including workplace-based education. Knowledge and experience in teaching chemistry, technology, and sustainable development, as well as outdoor didactic knowledge, are also meritorious. Great emphasis is also placed on the applicant's ability to structure and organize engaging teaching that stimulates students to independent learning.

The university will primarily consider those who, after a comprehensive assessment of competence, qualifications, skills, and personal abilities, have the best conditions to carry out the current job tasks and contribute to a positive development of the organization.

The applicant must be able to provide references from previous teaching assignments upon request.

About the Position

The position comprises approximately 40% of a full-time position. Furthermore, it is temporary and part-time from April 1, 2026, to January 17, 2027, with a possible extension. Start date is April 1, 2026.
