At the Swedish Work Environment Authority, we work together to ensure that no one becomes ill, injured, or dies from work. Therefore, we assist employers in meeting existing requirements and inform how work environment efforts become a natural part of everyday life. Based on the Work Environment Act, we develop regulations, inspect workplaces, and disseminate knowledge about work environment issues. The mission is serious, but our daily life is characterized by joy at work, and we are caring and helpful colleagues.

Your new job

The Swedish Work Environment Authority aims to increase the pace of development and become more data-driven. We in the infrastructure section play an important role in the journey to offer safe and stable operations. To succeed, we need to streamline and modernize our IT environment. We particularly focus on high security, good availability, and developing our working methods.

As an experienced network technician in the infrastructure section, you have a key role in developing, designing, and managing the authority's central IT infrastructure. The focus is on working long-term with architecture, security, and high availability in an environment where IT is business-critical and where the demands for stability and protection are very high. You have significant technical responsibility and clear influence over technical choices, standards, and solution design. You drive the work from analysis and architecture to implementation and further development, in close collaboration with the rest of the organization and other technical specialists.

You will be part of a competent and engaged team of ten employees who together support the organization's IT needs. The work encompasses everything from daily operations to developing robust and effective solutions, both within administrative systems and production-critical platforms.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • developing and managing virtual platforms
  • troubleshooting and managing the operation of network equipment, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks
  • driving and participating in projects to optimize and develop the IT infrastructure
  • leading and implementing work on network and security architecture, including firewalls, segmentation, and protection of business-critical systems
  • driving continuous development of existing environments and implementing new systems and technologies
  • acting as technical support for complex issues and being technically leading in incident and problem management at an advanced level
  • further developing and ensuring a technical environment with high security and availability

Your background

The role requires that you have:

  • post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as IT technology or networking. The employer can also assess other relevant work experience as equivalent
  • several years of documented and current experience working as a network technician/network engineer in complex IT environments
  • experience with firewalls and network security
  • experience working with operations, troubleshooting, and change management in production environments
  • excellent knowledge of routing and switching
  • excellent proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • relevant certifications in virtualization, networking, ITIL, or similar
  • knowledge of VXLAN, Zero Trust, or modern security architectures
  • the ability to automate and streamline network operations with Python, Ansible, or similar

As a person, we see that you have a genuine interest in networks and security and will succeed in the role if you are meticulous, structured, and able to handle situations even when they are stressful. You are driven to work towards set goals and can maintain focus even when problems arise. Additionally, you are a good colleague who collaborates to achieve team results. You are a flexible person who appreciates taking new initiatives as you are comfortable acting independently and making your own decisions.

Employment with us may mean that the position is placed in a security class. Security clearance with or without background checks may therefore be conducted before a hiring decision. For some of our tasks in the security class, Swedish citizenship is required. Security clearance is conducted according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
