Company Description

AFRY is a European leader in engineering, design, and consulting, with a global reach. We accelerate the transition to a sustainable society. With 19,000 experts in infrastructure, industry, energy, and digitalization, we create sustainable solutions for future generations.

Job Description

Develop software for some of Sweden's most critical technical systems

Working with embedded software in the defense industry is something truly special. Here, you will develop systems used in advanced platforms such as aircraft, ships, vehicles, and sensor-close systems – technology that must work in all situations, even when the environment is most demanding. At AFRY, you will have the opportunity to tackle deep technical challenges while contributing to Sweden's security and societal resilience in a meaningful way.

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will participate in the entire development chain, from requirements and architecture to implementation, integration, testing, and verification. You will work in teams alongside electronics, systems, and test engineers, and much of the work takes place close to the hardware. Here, you will build systems with long life cycles, high stability requirements, and reviewed safety standards – a job where quality and caution are as important as creativity and problem-solving.

You may work either on-site with clients in Stockholm or in-house at our modern facilities in Solna, depending on the project and your preferences.

You have experience in:
• C/C++ for embedded systems
• RTOS, bare-metal, or Linux embedded
• Hardware-near programming, drivers, and low-level interfaces

Meritorious:
• Experience in military capability, voluntary defense organizations, Home Guard, or completed military service
• Communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I²C, UART, Ethernet)

• Knowledge of Java, Python & ADA
• Test automation and CI for embedded targets
• Troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, JTAG, logic analyzers

Security Classification
You must be a Swedish citizen, and the role involves security clearance, which allows you to work with technology and systems that few others have insight into, and to contribute directly to Sweden's defense capability.
