Save the Children in Malmö now offers you the opportunity to contribute to making Malmö's children have a summer to remember while gaining valuable experience yourself, not to mention; the best summer job in the world.

ABOUT THE POSITION

"Children to Sea and Forest" is Save the Children in Malmö's summer project that gives children in Malmö's most socio-economically disadvantaged neighborhoods the chance to meet each other on equal terms. The project gives children the freedom to be just that - children, to have fun, discover nature, and play with friends in a stimulating environment alongside engaged adults. Thanks to these summer excursions, they get the chance to leave the urban environment and discover all the fun that summer Skåne has to offer!

Project structure:

  • By bus, excursions are made around Skåne, including various swimming spots, forests, zoos, and adventure parks.
  • Lasts the entire summer vacation! 4 days/week from June 15 to July 31.
  • Participation is free for the children and is offered to those in grades 1-6.

You will be part of a group of a total of 10 activity leaders and 4 project leaders. You will be divided into two buses with 25 children per bus (i.e., 7 adults/25 children). All leaders share responsibility for the children's group during the excursion and for the day's activity. It is a significant responsibility that you take very seriously while actively and enthusiastically participating. Before the excursion starts on June 15, you will undergo training in:

  • Introduction to Save the Children and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • First aid and CPR.
  • Life-saving. During the training, your skills will be tested, and you are expected to meet the requirements for the Silver Badge.
  • Communicating with children.
  • Save the Children's policy "Safer Together".
  • Honor-related violence and norms.
  • Leadership.
  • Neuropsychiatric disabilities.

Development opportunities

As an activity leader for a summer, you have good opportunities to return as an activity leader in the coming summers and to eventually take on greater responsibility in a role as a project leader.
