Slakthusområdets gymnasium is seeking a lead teacher in educational development.
Slakthusområdets gymnasium will open in August 2026 in Stockholm's newest district.
We will start with approximately 250 students in grade 1 and are expected to be fully developed with 800 students by year three. The school is completely newly built with study-adapted facilities and offers three programs: the Business Program, the Social Science Program, and the Sales and Service Program. Your role
Before the school starts in August, we are looking for a lead teacher in educational development. The task is to systematically develop teaching in accordance with the school's vision of varied teaching such as interdisciplinary projects, case- and problem-based teaching. The focus of the assignment may change over time. The assignment may apply to the entire school, parts of the school, or individual subjects. The position also includes teaching and mentorship.
The assignment involves contributing to the development of a new school together with the school management. As a lead teacher, you will lead educational development, support colleagues, participate in the school's overall development work, and be part of the pedagogical leadership group. The role involves spreading good practices, strengthening colleagues, collaborating with students and external actors, and promoting a safe learning environment and a positive school development culture.
You will particularly contribute to:
- Developing and making visible teaching, learning, and students' academic results.
- Promoting the development of the entire school and all students and following up on academic results at the school level.
- Ensuring that teaching is based on scientific grounds and proven experience.
- Strengthening collegial learning, professional development, and a safe learning environment where all students can succeed.
Your competencies and experience
We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with the authority to teach at the high school level and can document at least four years of well-rated teaching experience within the framework of one or more positions in the school system.
Furthermore, we want you to:
- Have teaching authority at the high school level in at least two subjects.
- Have previous experience in teaching and developing education based on interdisciplinary projects and/or case studies and/or problem-based learning. We consider it an advantage if you have worked with several of these teaching forms.
- Have experience in leading collegial learning and the ability to lead and inspire colleagues in development work.
- Have experience in systematic quality work and good competence in analytical work.
- Have a very good ability to design teaching in accordance with curricula, subject plans, and current knowledge requirements.
- Have demonstrated a particularly good ability to improve students' academic results and have a strong interest in developing teaching.
As a person, you are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness as well as being a clear leader in the classroom. You value and create good conditions for collaboration and build strong relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have a great interest in developing our newly started operations with all that it entails of flexibility, patience, creativity, and organizational skills. You have a holistic view of the school's activities and take responsibility for the entire school's development.
