We are announcing 6 AT blocks for 21 months of service. As an AT doctor, we offer you an active role in daily operations where you will quickly engage in practical patient work. Our goal with your AT service is to provide you with a solid clinical foundation for your future professional development. The AT doctors are an important part of the medical team at the hospital in Enköping.

Block plan 21 months

  • Surgery 6 months: Surgery/orthopedics/urology/anesthesia, emergency department.
  • Medicine 6 months: Ward, emergency department, IMA.
  • Psychiatry 3 months at Akademiska sjukhuset: Ward or outpatient and emergency department for adult psychiatry.
  • Primary care 6 months: Placement at healthcare centers within the Uppsala region (placement at healthcare centers is preferably in the Enköping area, Knivsta, Örsundsbro, and Bålsta but can occur anywhere in the region).
  • On-call duty: at the emergency department includes surgical (weekend shifts), internal medicine (weekend shifts), and psychiatric placements (weekend and night shifts). You will never be on call alone at night; night shifts only include a few shifts within psychiatry (double duty with a licensed physician on site). Voluntary observation during night shifts in surgery and medicine is offered.

Education

Allocated time for lectures/training/self-study is regularly provided at all service segments (except for summer breaks). Two paid courses are offered during the first year. A region-wide study day per semester. A-HLR adults and children, S-HLR, Early detection and treatment. Trauma simulation at the clinical training center. Opportunity to participate in SMART simulation in situ at the emergency department. Space permitting, participation in the annual AT conference is also offered. A voluntary observation week ("optional week") in a self-chosen area of interest is offered during the first year. As study support, a subscription to Hypocampus and purchase of membership on the learning platform EKG.nu is also provided.

Your qualifications

  • You must have a medical degree upon appointment.
  • Language skills corresponding to Swedish C1. For foreign degrees, Swedish societal and constitutional knowledge must be completed.
  • If you have a foreign medical degree, a decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare to do general service must be attached to your application.

Work experience is meritorious:

  • Experience working as a junior doctor. Meritorious in several different areas.
  • Emergency department work as primary on-call.

Your competence

As a person, you are meticulous and structured. Flexibility, good collaboration skills, social competence, and responsiveness are other qualities we value.

You are attracted to working at a small hospital and what it entails, including a lot of personal responsibility. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Important information regarding your application

  • For those with foreign degrees: also attach a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare regarding approved foreign degrees and a decision to do AT.
  • Attach your CV, noting that the work experience you claim must be substantiated by service certificates or other certificates where the time period and extent are clearly stated.
  • Attach service certificates regarding previous temporary positions (recommendation letters do not replace service certificates).
  • Write/copy your personal letter in the box “personal letter” (not just attach a PDF).
  • Provide at least two references, of which the most recent medical chief should be one reference.
  • We intend to take references before the interview.
  • All requested documents must be attached to the application by the deadline.
  • We can only process fully completed applications.

We offer

The service is full-time, fixed-term employment for 21 months. Before autumn 2026, we will recruit 6 AT doctors, starting August 14, 2026.
