Cybersecurity Specialist at FOI

The Total Defence Research Institute (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defense and security to support Sweden's military and civil defense. The research spans several areas, including underwater, cyber defense, space, electronic warfare, sensor systems, civil defense, CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials), military platforms including weapons and protection, as well as security policy analyses. FOI's research plays a key role in building Sweden's defense capability.

About the Position

With us, you will be part of the team that develops, packages, and conducts knowledge and capability-enhancing exercises and training in the field of cybersecurity for Sweden's critical actors. You will focus on developing knowledge about the effects these activities provide, and based in a multidisciplinary team, you will lead, develop, and evaluate cyber training efforts from a research perspective with the goal of making cyber capability measurable. Your knowledge building will contribute to ensuring the effectiveness of the capability-enhancing efforts FOI and other actors conduct to strengthen Sweden's resilience against cyber threats.

About the Unit

You will be part of the unit Capabilities in the Cyber Domain, which belongs to Cyber Defense and Command Technology. Our activities aim to strengthen total defense capabilities, both technical and human, within the cyber domain. Research and application focus on operations in the cyber domain and knowledge of methods and techniques for conducting training and exercises. Through practical training, we enhance the national capability in the cyber domain.

Do you have the competence profile we need?

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university or college degree at the master's level in information security, information technology, didactics, or pedagogy, or equivalent skills that FOI assesses as comparable in other ways.
  • An interest in socio-technical aspects of cybersecurity work.

To succeed in this position, we see that you are communicative, self-driven, have good collaboration skills, and analytical ability. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

Meritorious

It is advantageous if you have:

  • A doctoral degree with relevant focus.
  • Knowledge and experience of qualitative research methods.
  • Experience in developing exercise and training programs within the cyber domain.
  • Experience in cybersecurity work within the critical sector or military defense.

The position is a permanent employment that may start with a six-month probationary period.
