Raw Material Trader/Purchaser

At Lantmännen, agriculture is the heart of our business and constitutes our core operations. With agriculture as our foundation, we have built the broad business that the group consists of today. Lantmännen has a unique value chain where we take responsibility from farm to fork every day. We are now looking for someone who has a passion for the raw materials market and who wants to contribute to ensuring we have good food on our table every day.

Your Responsibilities

The Purchasing Department's mission is to ensure long-term sustainable and commercially competitive purchases of raw materials with the right quality and volume. The operations are conducted in global, volatile markets and involve trading both physical raw materials and financial derivatives, as well as structured risk management.

In the role of Raw Material Trader/Purchaser, you will have overall responsibility for a number of strategically important raw materials within animal feed, such as grains, soybean meal, industrial by-products from flour and sugar production, and vitamins. Purchases are made from suppliers all over the world.

You will be responsible for market analysis, trading strategies, execution of transactions, and negotiations with suppliers. A central part of the role is to actively manage price and market risks through hedging strategies. In close collaboration with logistics and production functions, you will ensure a robust, cost-effective, and long-term optimized supply to the company's facilities. The role also involves contributing to the development of working methods, processes, and decision-making support within the purchasing and trading function.

What You Need to Succeed and Thrive

You have:

  • A relevant academic degree, for example in economics or equivalent.
  • Experience in raw material trading, purchasing, or trading in an international environment.
  • Experience in risk management and hedging.
  • Documented experience in conducting transactions with both local suppliers, large international industrial companies, and global trading houses.
  • Excellent knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and strong analytical abilities.

You are:

  • Business-driven, analytical, and confident in making independent decisions.
  • Structured, responsible, and accustomed to handling complex issues in a volatile market.

Meritorious:

  • Experience in trading and technical analysis.
  • Experience working in Bloomberg Terminal, LSEG Workspace, or similar market systems.

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You share our values; a holistic view, openness, and decisiveness – and our promise to take responsibility from farm to fork.

What We Offer You

As a Raw Material Trader/Purchaser, you will be offered a business-critical role with the opportunity to work closely with the global markets for agricultural raw materials such as soybeans, corn, and wheat. You will play a central role in the company's work with hedging and risk management on international commodity exchanges, such as the Chicago Board of Trade and Euronext in Paris.

The role provides an opportunity to influence trading strategies, develop working methods, and contribute expertise in a complex and international business environment.

The position is full-time and is based at our headquarters in central Malmö. The position involves some travel both in Sweden and internationally.

As a final candidate, a background check will be conducted through our supplier ToFindOut. If you have any questions regarding the position or the recruitment process, please feel free to contact the recruiting manager Marcus Sommerfeldt at [email protected].

We look forward to your application!
