Engaged Employees Wanted for School Social Team

We are looking for four engaged employees for our newly established school social team – a collaborative initiative between schools and social services aimed at promoting school attendance and well-being among children and youth.

The team will start in the spring term of 2026, and you will have a unique opportunity to be involved from the beginning and shape working methods and structures.

As part of the team, you will work closely with students, guardians, school staff, and other stakeholders to create safety, structure, and motivation. The work is operational and takes place at both individual and group levels.

Your Responsibilities

Examples of tasks:

• Build relationships with students, parents, teachers, and other collaborative partners.
• Support students in various vulnerable situations before and during the school day.
• Conduct motivating and supportive conversations with students.
• Maintain continuous dialogue with guardians, providing support in collaboration with the school.
• Assist students and guardians in structuring their lives, e.g., through weekly schedules, planning for schoolwork and leisure activities, etc.
• Build sustainable networks both privately and in the community.
• Initiate and invite to collaborative meetings and coordinated individual plans (SIP).
• Plan physical and social adaptations in the school environment in collaboration with the school's student health services.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant higher education degree as deemed appropriate by the employer. You have experience working with children and youth, preferably focusing on school absenteeism, and are accustomed to working in interdisciplinary teams.

You have:

• Good knowledge of schools and social services, as well as collaboration between them.
• Experience in motivational work, networking, and family support or work as a school counselor/social pedagogue.
• The ability to build trusting relationships and communicate clearly.
• Structure, initiative, and good collaboration skills.
• A valid driver's license (B).

Additional Information

You will be employed in the central student health services belonging to the Child and Youth Administration (primary school Halmstad) based out of the social services' premises. The work will largely be carried out in various municipal primary schools. The school social team has its own management and will belong to the unit for school counselors.

If you are offered employment within the Child and Youth Administration, you are required to present a clean extract from the Police Criminal Record for work in schools/preschools. The extract is free of charge and takes about 2-3 weeks for the police to process. Therefore, order it in good time!
