Chef at Månstenen Preschool

Are you passionate about creating joy in food and awakening children's curiosity and interest in culinary experiences? Then you could be our new chef at Månstenen Preschool!

Who are we?

In August, we will open our newly built preschool Månstenen, located in Vilbergen with good cycling paths, excellent bus connections, and proximity to both forests and parks. Månstenen will offer modern and well-planned facilities for 150 children spread over two floors, where part of it will be an adapted unit located on the lower floor.

The adapted unit for children with multiple disabilities will start in January and has space for 20 children. In total, about 150 children and around 30 educators will be part of a whole at Månstenen Preschool.

We will have a cooking kitchen where you prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks that are served in our beautiful and bright dining room. For us, the meal is an important part of the day and a moment for community, learning, and well-being. We envision our dining room becoming Månstenen's restaurant: a welcoming place where children, staff, the principal, and the chef enter with a sense of pride, expectation, and community.

Your responsibilities

As a chef with us, you will own your arena and create meals that engage all senses – where food not only satisfies hunger but also sparks curiosity and the desire to taste.

You are responsible for planning, purchasing, preparing, and serving delicious and nutritious meals to the children. You cook from scratch with a focus on quality, seasonality, and sustainability, and actively work to reduce food waste through smart planning and good ingredient management.

You create a mealtime experience where all children, both those who eat independently and those who are tube-fed, can feel joy and curiosity about food, where they can safely taste, explore, and be satisfied with wonderfully appealing meals.

You create opportunities for children to encounter food with both knowledge and joy – through conversations, small elements in everyday life, or activities related to the meal. You invite children to meal councils or other forums where their voices can influence the meal to create participation, influence, and strengthen our meal pedagogy.

The adapted unit will have several children with dietary needs, so you will have close collaboration regarding food with guardians and external contacts to ensure the children's individual needs are met.

You develop menus based on national guidelines for meals in preschools, order goods according to current procurement and agreements, and are responsible for receiving deliveries. You ensure that the kitchen maintains a high standard of hygiene and that work is conducted in accordance with applicable food legislation.

In close cooperation with educators, you contribute to creating a positive dining environment and awakening children's curiosity about food, sustainability, and good habits, thus becoming an important part of their daily lives and well-being.

You are also responsible for budget, self-control, and cleaning.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who wants to develop their work and professional role by inspiring, creating joy in food, and providing safe and positive dining experiences for both children and adults.

You are a trained chef with a warm and friendly demeanor towards both children and staff. You work with pride and contribute ideas, initiatives, and great engagement. You have experience working in large kitchens with a capacity of at least 130 meals per day and feel very confident preparing special diets and adapted meals.

You enjoy working independently and in a structured manner where you plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. You have the ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and handle stress. You are attentive, solution-focused, and have good communication skills. You have a good ability to collaborate and enjoy meeting children and adults in the dining room where you listen, converse, and build relationships.

You have good knowledge of regulations regarding personal hygiene, handling, and storage of food. You have experience in planning and being responsible for finances and purchasing. We prefer that you have further education in the culinary field and that you have completed the Swedish Food Agency's training in food hygiene, hazards, and risks.

Furthermore, you have very good knowledge of Swedish, with the ability to communicate correctly and professionally in both speech and writing to ensure understanding of certificates and information regarding various medical needs for special diets and adapted meals.

As a chef, you have daily contact with children and staff, and we therefore see it as important that you have an interest in children and the educational activities that take place.

Welcome with your application to Månstenen Preschool, where the meal can be more than just food, and you have the opportunity to create something that children look forward to every day!
