The postnatal care within the Women's health and childbirth department consists of:

• Ward 16, which is an antenatal and medical postnatal care ward.
• Ward 17, which is a medical postnatal care ward responsible for planned cesarean sections.

Job responsibilities

As a midwife, you are responsible for four to five women with pregnancy complications or new families, and you do this in paired care together with a nursing assistant. The main tasks are to care for and support the new family in accordance with their individual wishes. This includes, among other things:

• You provide information based on where the family is and give the family the opportunity to make informed choices.
• You encourage skin-to-skin contact as much as possible to create the best conditions for bonding and breastfeeding.
• You provide engaged and correct support regarding breastfeeding.

Your introduction will be tailored based on previous experience.

Qualifications

Licensed midwife. Experience from similar care is an advantage. Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is required.

Personal qualities

Teamwork requires a willingness to collaborate and flexibility to adapt to new conditions during the workday. You both give and ask for help. As we meet families with different backgrounds and individual needs, great sensitivity and very good communication skills are required.

About the department

Women's health and childbirth is one of the hospital's largest areas of operation with about 600 employees. We provide acute and specialized care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The department is divided into the sections of obstetrics and gynecology.

The obstetric section includes childbirth, specialist maternity care with ultrasound clinics, antenatal units, elective cesareans, and postnatal care. We are one of Sweden's largest childbirth units.

The gynecological section consists of an outpatient clinic, emergency department, operating room, and a care ward. We perform benign gynecology with a focus on minimally invasive surgery. We have an NHV assignment in advanced pelvic floor surgery. In our operating room, both planned and emergency procedures are performed, including robotic surgery.

We have a significant R&D assignment with the education of medical students, midwifery students, and rotating doctors from general medicine and emergency medicine. We have a large clinical research operation with at least two newly registered doctoral students each year.
