JOB DESCRIPTION
We welcome 17 resident physicians, starting on 2026-08-31, to Helsingborg Hospital!
Three of the positions may be filled as research residents, provided there are enough qualified applicants. Otherwise, they will be filled as regular residents. Research residency involves active research work for six months in addition to clinical service. The research should be conducted at Helsingborg Hospital and/or Lund University, but research based elsewhere may also be approved. More information about research residency can be found at: http://www.skane.se/organisation-politik/Jobba-hos-oss/sok-at/forskar-at/ (http://www.skane.se/organisation-politik/Jobba-hos-oss/sok-at/forskar-at/)
Residency at Helsingborg Hospital lasts for 18 months; nine months in internal medicine and surgical specialties including emergency services and anesthesia/ICU, three months in psychiatry, and six months in primary care. You will rotate between departments and the emergency room. In the department, you will work alongside a senior physician, specialist, or experienced ST physician and perform standard junior physician tasks under supervision. The final primary care placement takes place in Helsingborg or in nearby municipalities within Helsingborg's catchment area.
The residency begins with a two-week introduction period that includes various training moments alternating with clinical service/introduction alongside outgoing resident physicians. During the residency, ongoing lectures and recurring training days are arranged, as well as a training retreat (Regional AT-ting). Each placement has a responsible study director, and you will be assigned a personal supervisor. You also have the opportunity for a personal mentor who will follow you throughout your residency. Working hours consist of scheduled regular working hours, Monday to Friday, as well as on-call duties that occur in the evenings, nights, and weekends. During on-call shifts, you are never alone as a resident physician; there is always a licensed colleague present.
Our resident physicians play an important role in our operations, and you will quickly discover that you are a valued colleague! We hope that your time with us will be so inspiring that you will want to stay even after obtaining your license.
