JOB DESCRIPTION
We welcome 11 resident physicians, starting on 2026-08-31, to Ängelholm Hospital!
The residency at Ängelholm Hospital is 18 months; nine months in internal medicine and surgical specialties including emergency care and anesthesia/ICU, three months in psychiatry, and six months in primary care. During your residency in Ängelholm, you will be placed at both the local hospital in Ängelholm and the emergency hospital in Helsingborg. You will rotate between departments and the emergency room. In the department, you will work alongside a senior physician, specialist, or experienced ST physician, performing standard junior physician tasks under supervision. The final primary care placement will take place in Ängelholm or in nearby municipalities within Ängelholm's catchment area.
The residency begins with a two-week introduction period that includes various educational moments interspersed with clinical service/introduction alongside outgoing resident physicians. The introduction includes, in addition to the introductory week, a three-day team-based training in emergency management of critically ill patients.
Throughout the residency, ongoing lectures and recurring training days will be arranged. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to attend a training retreat (Regional AT-ting). At each placement, there is a responsible study director, and you will be assigned a personal supervisor. You also have the option of a personal mentor who will follow you and your professional development throughout the residency. Working hours consist of scheduled regular hours, Monday to Friday, as well as on-call duties that occur in the evenings, nights, and weekends. During on-call shifts, you are never alone as a resident physician; there is always a licensed colleague present.
Our resident physicians play an important role in our operations, and you will quickly discover that you are a valued colleague! We hope that your time with us will be so inspiring that you will want to stay even after obtaining your license.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for candidates who have a Swedish medical degree or a decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare to undertake residency. Proficiency in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale is a requirement. Applicants with education outside the EU must have completed the course in Community and Constitutional Knowledge/Constitutional Knowledge with a passing result before starting residency. Previous service as a junior physician within Swedish healthcare is an advantage.
We recruit resident physicians with the hospital's future competence supply in focus and therefore place great importance on your personal maturity, judgment, empathy, and ability to collaborate in addition to formal qualifications. Furthermore, we see that you are engaged, proactive, communicative, and possess leadership qualities. Local ties are considered an advantage.
NOTE! You cannot supplement your application after the application deadline of 2026-02-20. Incomplete applications will not be considered. We ask that you apply online and attach the following documents:
- CV that includes all post-secondary education and all healthcare experience. Indicate title, clinic, and employment period.

- Provide at least two references who know how you function in clinical service. If you do not have clinical experience, indicate individuals who can assess you in another work role. Also, please include a reference who has been or is your current supervisor.
- If you have a valid work permit from the Migration Agency that allows for residency service, you should attach this.
Other merits you claim in your application must be substantiated with certificates at any interview.
We process applications on an ongoing basis. We warmly welcome your application!
