Resident Physicians Wanted at Hässleholm Hospital

REGION SKÅNE

13 days left
to apply for the job

Make a difference. Every day.

Hässleholm Hospital is the small hospital where you, as a resident physician, become part of the team in an environment characterized by accessibility and professionalism. We are Scandinavia's largest center for hip and knee joint replacement surgeries and a hospital that is at the forefront nationally in stroke care. Primary care, internal medicine, medical rehabilitation, and planned orthopedics form the foundation of our organization.

- The advantages of being at a smaller hospital attracted me to apply for residency in Hässleholm. Here, there is a very good balance between responsibility and supervision, and I recognize most people when I walk through the corridors. I receive the support I need while also having the opportunity to take space to grow in my role as a physician. I feel that there is a real investment in us resident physicians so that we can thrive and develop; it’s wonderful to feel important to the hospital, says Tobias Carlsson, resident physician in Hässleholm.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are now looking for seven resident physicians for the autumn of 2026, starting on August 31 and November 30.

The residency is 18 months, with the first 4.5 months covering the surgical specialties, primarily at the Central Hospital in Kristianstad (CSK). The duties in the somatic emergency department during the first 4.5 months of residency are partly unassigned under the emergency clinic's responsibility (applies during daytime and evening) but also as assigned surgery and medicine during the respective duty sections (applies during weekends and nights). During the 4.5 months at the medical clinic in Hässleholm, you will work in the general medicine department, stroke and rehabilitation department, as well as in the admission and monitoring department. You will also participate in our medical on-call service around the clock. The backup physician is always present at the hospital when you are on call. During your psychiatric training period of three months, you will be placed in Hässleholm during the day, with on-call activities in Kristianstad. The six-month rotation in general medicine will take place at one of the health centers in the local area.

Comprehensive introduction and ongoing theoretical training are provided in collaboration with CSK. Trauma training, emergency medical training, and courses in the practice of sick leave, as well as various theme days, are examples of the professional development we offer. Participation in a reflection group throughout the residency is offered but is voluntary. All resident physicians are invited to participate in Region Skåne's residency meeting at Ystad Saltsjöbad.

To ensure that your residency is well thought out and functioning, there is a team consisting of a residency director, an overarching study director, and administrative support at your disposal. In addition to these, each clinic has a residency responsible physician and a personal supervisor who ensures that you receive good guidance. Our primary task during your 18 months of service is to provide you with good clinical competence that follows the descriptions of goals for resident physicians. Our resident physicians play an important role in healthcare. We hope that your time here will be so inspiring that you will want to stay even after your license!
