The Position and Responsibilities
We are looking for a social worker for a one-year temporary position in the Foster Care Unit in Botkyrka Municipality.
In this role, you will work with a clear child focus and contribute to creating safe, stable, and developmental home conditions for placed children. We place high demands on our foster homes and closely monitor their assignments through regular follow-ups and support measures tailored to each child's needs.
As a social worker, you will be responsible for following up on children placed under the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU). You will play a key role in monitoring the child's development and safety during the placement, as well as coordinating efforts with guardians, schools, healthcare, and other relevant actors.
Your main responsibilities:
- follow up on placements through home visits in foster homes and meetings with children, guardians, schools, BUP, and other actors
- investigate and assess the need for support to facilitate reunification when it is in the child's best interest
- write and follow up contracts with foster homes, as well as handle questions regarding fees, expenses, and reimbursements
- make decisions, document, and plan interventions according to applicable legislation and the organization's guidelines
- collaborate closely with colleagues and other professionals to create sustainable solutions for the child.
A central part of the assignment is to work together with the child's biological guardians. You will investigate what support they need to create a safe home environment with the goal of making reunification possible when it is in the child's best interest. The work requires you to be structured, attentive, and able to build trusting relationships, even in challenging situations.
We Offer You
When you join us, you will meet an engaged and experienced team with various functions, including social workers, therapists, administrators, and foster care recruiters who work closely together in their daily tasks. You will become part of a team where we help each other, share knowledge, and discuss difficult cases. You will collaborate particularly closely with other social workers and our senior social workers who are available for coaching and support in daily work. The leadership is accessible and development-oriented, with a manager who is engaged in both the direction of the organization and the well-being of the employees.
With us, you will have a job where you can think, act, and influence every day. We are a constantly evolving organization exploring how new knowledge can strengthen social work. We offer a flexible working approach, with the possibility to work remotely two to three days a week if the organization allows it. As an employee with us, you will receive group supervision, ongoing professional development in the foster care area, and opportunities to participate in organizational development.
You Who Are Applying to Us
You have a degree in social work and several years of experience in public authority activities in the area of children and young people in vulnerable life situations, where you have worked with children in need of protection, support, and long-term interventions.
Other Requirements for the Position:
- Previous experience working with BBIC (Children's Needs in Focus) as a structure for documentation, assessment, and planning in cases involving children and young people.
We Consider It Meritorious:
- Experience working with Signs of Safety as a structure in child welfare investigations, safety planning, and collaboration with networks.
- Previous work experience following up on the situation of placed children through regular contacts with foster homes, schools, BUP, BUM, or other relevant actors.
- Experience working in LifeCare (formerly Procapita) or another relevant case management system.
As a social worker in the Foster Care Unit, you need to be collaborative and comfortable working closely with both colleagues and external actors such as foster homes, guardians, schools, and BUP. The role involves many points of contact and requires you to build trusting relationships and manage the process around each child. In your interactions with the child and their network, you will use your communication skills to create understanding, clarity, and consensus in often complex issues. You need to be able to meet individuals in various emotional states and be professional, attentive, and respectful in all dialogues.
The work also requires you to be solution-oriented, structured, and stable. You will drive cases forward by identifying needs, initiating collaboration, and proposing interventions based on the child's best interest. Since the daily routine varies between home visits, meetings, and documentation, you need to prioritize, maintain direction, and work methodically even when the pace is high. Your stability will be particularly important in pressured situations where you need to stand firm, make independent assessments, and act according to the assignment without losing quality or focus.
For positions in the Social Administration in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
