Johan i Hallen & Bergfalk is the specialist offering a carefully selected range of meat, fish, and seafood to restaurants and stores. We have our own production where we have crafted sausages and charcuterie since 1916! Every day we cut fish and detail butchering and refine meat according to our customers' needs. We have production, storage, and offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Helsingborg. In Gothenburg, we are located both in Fiskhamnen and in Partille where our headquarters and largest warehouse are situated. From our local offices, we deliver fresh goods daily across the country.
As a Quality Manager Category, you have a central role in ensuring high and consistent quality within one of JHB's most important product categories. You are responsible for product and category quality throughout the chain – from supplier and sourcing to in-house production and finished product. The role is operational, business-oriented, and suits you who thrive in everyday quality work where quick decisions, collaboration, and quality in practice are the focus. The role is based in Gothenburg.
About the role
In the role of Quality Manager Category, you are responsible for quality assurance of products and production within your category, with a particular focus on fish and Own Brand products from suppliers as well as in-house production. You ensure that products, processes, and working methods comply with applicable legislation, internal requirements, and quality standards, and that quality is integrated throughout the sourcing and production process. You work closely with Category Managers, purchasing, production, and Quality Supervisors and act as a quality partner in the daily operational work.
The role entails a clear responsibility to develop and follow up control programs, manage deviations and customer complaints, and ensure that corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively. Furthermore, you have an important role in developing and managing processes related to Own Brand management, product approvals, and recalls.
You are also involved in product development and management of product specifications, technical data sheets, and labeling. You participate in cross-functional teams, support and guide Quality Supervisors, and actively contribute to driving improvements in working methods and quality processes. The role also includes participation in external audits, regulatory inspections, and certifications, as well as promoting a strong quality and food safety culture within the organization.
Your experience
You have an academic background in food technology, food safety, or equivalent and several years of experience in the food industry, preferably within fish/meat. You have worked with quality assurance in fresh goods and have a good understanding of food legislation and quality standards such as HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000. It is an advantage if you have worked with project management of improvement work and process development, and it is highly meritorious if you have experience working with packaging. You are used to working closely with production, making operational decisions, and collaborating closely with purchasing and operations. Good English skills in both spoken and written form are a given.
About you
As a person, you are operational, decisive, and confident in your decision-making. You thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high tempo and have the ability to balance quality, business, and pragmatism in everyday life. You are communicative, collaborative, and have an easy time building trust within the organization. With a solution-oriented approach and a genuine commitment to quality, you contribute to both profitability and long-term development.
We offer
With us, you will have a central role in an expanding company with a strong culture, high tempo, and short decision-making paths. We enjoy working together, sharing knowledge, and developing both our products and ourselves. You will work closely with the product and customers, alongside colleagues who are passionate about food and sales. We offer 30 days of vacation, 5,000 SEK in wellness benefits, employee discounts on our entire range, breakfast and tastings, as well as a collective agreement.
