Job Responsibilities

At the City Planning Administration's Geodata and Land Surveying Department, we are responsible for the production and accessibility of fundamental geographic information for the City of Gothenburg.

Our mission includes photogrammetric detail measurement, geodetic measurement and calculation, map production, maintenance of address and apartment registers, GIS analyses and visualization, as well as processing property formation matters. Our operations are of great importance both for individual residents and for the municipality's urban development processes.

We are now looking for a measurement engineer with a focus on photogrammetry to join the measurement and mapping unit, which consists of 20 dedicated colleagues. In this role, you will contribute to maintaining the municipality's geographic database through work with stereo mapping and interpretation of aerial images.

As a measurement engineer in photogrammetric detail measurement, you will carry out assignments for internal and external clients, primarily within the departments of the City Planning Administration, and be part of a team of five people. Your main tasks will include stereo mapping in aerial images as well as planning and executing production in close collaboration with your colleagues. Updating the base map for new construction maps, base maps, and project documentation is also part of the assignment. The work requires precision, patience, and structure.

You will work independently with incoming cases, from preparation to delivery. For stereo mapping, we use AutoCAD and Summit Evolution, among other tools.

Our operations are evolving, which means that tasks and responsibilities may expand over time. Depending on your experience and skills, the position may also include other methods for collecting geodata, such as drones and handheld laser scanning.

In our unit, we strive to maintain a positive work environment where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and service mindset are important parts of everyday life.

As a person, you are meticulous, responsible, and committed. You enjoy working both independently and in a team, and you find it easy to build good relationships and contribute to a positive work climate.

We value flexibility and offer the possibility of remote work when the operations/tasks allow it.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in measurement engineering, cartography, or equivalent. We welcome both experienced candidates and recent graduates.

Experience in photogrammetry, measurement and mapping, work in municipal operations, address or building permit processes, as well as knowledge of laser data and terrain models are advantageous. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Topocad, and experience related to planning and building processes are also seen as a plus.

We seek a responsible and detail-oriented person with the ability to see the big picture. You have a structured approach to work and are attentive to both colleagues' and the organization's needs. Collaboration is a natural part of your working style, and you actively contribute to a good work environment.

During the interview, we will conduct a stereo vision test, which assesses your ability to perceive depth in stereo images. The result will be considered as part of the overall assessment in the selection process.

Conditions

The position may be placed in security class 3, which means that a security clearance including a drug test and a security interview with background check may be conducted before a hiring decision is made.

Currently, our workplace at Köpmansgatan 20 is being renovated, where all urban development administrations will be gathered. The new premises are expected to be completed by August 2026. Until then, we are located in temporary offices at central addresses.

As we have already decided on the recruitment channels we wish to use for this recruitment, we kindly but firmly request not to be contacted for additional offers regarding competence mediation, advertising, and recruitment assistance.
