About the job

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be part of the R&D team for Combustor Mechanical Design, where you will work on developing, optimizing, and ensuring quality in mechanical solutions for combustion chambers and associated components. You will participate in the entire development chain - from idea and concept development to finished product - in close collaboration with both internal development and production functions as well as external suppliers.

In this role, you will handle components that are subjected to extreme temperatures and recurring load variations, which places high demands on both design and lifespan. The assignment requires technical curiosity, collaboration skills, and a willingness to contribute to robust and sustainable design solutions for both traditional fuels and future alternatives, such as natural gas, diesel, and hydrogen.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and optimizing mechanical solutions for burners, combustors, and related components
  • Creating concepts, 3D models, and drawings in CAD (NX) and documenting technical solutions
  • Selecting materials and production methods for high-temperature components
  • Participating in development projects from idea to finished product, including design reviews and technical analyses
  • Acting as a technical contact for suppliers and internal workshops and managing NCRs
  • Supporting order engineering, service, and purchasing with technical expertise
  • Contributing to ongoing method and process development within design

The ideal candidate

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in mechanical design, complex constructions, and advanced technical environments. You take responsibility for your tasks, are analytical, and thrive in cross-functional collaboration. To succeed in this role, you should be solution-oriented, communicative, and accustomed to working systematically in a development-intensive organization.

For this role, we expect you to have:

  • A Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in mechanical design, preferably focusing on high-temperature components or turbomachinery
  • Good knowledge of 3D CAD, preferably NX
  • Understanding of strength calculations
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams
  • Good communication skills

Meritorious:

  • Experience with PED, CE marking, and regulations
  • Experience with NX Teamcenter or PLM2020
  • Experience in manufacturing-related roles
  • Knowledge of gas turbines, welding, and additive manufacturing
  • Good knowledge of Swedish
