Job Advertisement: Developer in Electronic Warfare
The Total Defence Research Institute (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defense and security to support Sweden's military and civil defense. Our research spans several areas, including underwater, cyber defense, space, electronic warfare, sensor systems, civil defense, CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials), military platforms including weapons and protection, as well as security policy analysis. FOI's research plays a key role in building Sweden's defense capability.
Would you like to help develop the next generation of electronic warfare systems? Do you want to work with advanced applied research and development? Then FOI could be your new workplace. We offer a balanced work life, a developing work environment, and a socially important job!
About the Position
You will work at the forefront of technology and develop systems to realize our research results. Our clients ask us to challenge the limits of physics, which means we develop solutions that not only use the latest technology but also future technology.
As our unit covers a wide range of technologies, there are great opportunities for varied tasks, including close contact with interested recipients within the Armed Forces. You will follow the work from the idea stage to the finished system while having the opportunity to develop within your area of expertise.
We work in project form where your contribution becomes a significant part of the whole, and there is a real opportunity to influence the results. Since we test our systems in realistic environments with field measurements, there is also the possibility to work outside the everyday office and lab environment.
About the Unit
You will be part of the unit for Disruption of Radio Communication, which belongs to the Electronic Warfare department. Together with colleagues in the Radio operational area, we work with the Armed Forces' needs regarding electronic warfare and robustness aspects for radio applications.
The unit's mission aims to develop disruption methods to degrade an opponent's command capability. We work with the entire chain from advanced algorithms to hardware prototypes, which are often tested in real environments. We are close to our clients but also have good contacts in the academic world and defense industry.
Do you have the skill profile we need?
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- A Master's degree in engineering with a focus on signal processing or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
As an employee at FOI, you will have a job with great freedom, the opportunity to influence, and space for your own initiatives. It is valuable to be proactive, have good analytical skills, and be self-driven. Since the work is project-based, you need to have good collaboration skills, enjoy developing solutions together with others, and be goal- and result-oriented.
Meritorious
- Competence in radio communication
- Experience working with signal processing
- Experience from the Armed Forces, defense industry, or other defense-related authorities
