Dangerous animal diseases can have serious consequences, from suffering in animals and humans to economic losses and disruptions in food supply. The Swedish Veterinary Institute, SVA, is an expert authority that strengthens Sweden's ability to combat animal diseases that pose threats to critical societal functions through diagnostics, research, and advice. SVA has about 380 employees, of which 11 work in the economics section. The authority is more co-financed than many other authorities (grants, contributions, and fees), which provides an exciting and developing everyday life for you in your role as a controller/accounting economist with us!

Job Responsibilities

You will work as a controller/qualified accounting economist in the economics section. Your tasks include planning, budgeting, and follow-up work, as well as work with annual accounts and financial statements. The work may also include support with calculations and pricing for our extensive fee-financed operations. Investigations in the accounting area may occur. Furthermore, you will produce financial analyses and statistics that serve as a basis for operational management. You will support the organization in financial matters and also work with governing documents in the area. You will also act as a trainer within the organization.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a graduate economist or has equivalent competence and has experience working as an economist, preferably as a qualified accounting economist/accounting manager or with a controller focus. You have the ability to see the big picture but can also tackle the details. You have an interest in developing work in the area. You are flexible, take initiative, and make things happen.

Great emphasis is placed on collaboration skills and personal suitability for the tasks, such as being driven, structured, and able to communicate well. You can work both independently and in a group, and you have good collaboration skills. You can express yourself well in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. We want you to be an experienced Excel user.

Meritorious

Knowledge of public accounting. Experience in project accounting and administration of research projects. Knowledge of pricing and calculations as well as experience from overhead calculations. Experience with business systems and reporting tools. If you have an interest and aptitude for business development such as Lean or equivalent theories/models, we consider it meritorious.

Conditions

The employment begins with a six-month probationary period.

The position is security classified, which means that a security review will be conducted before employment. The security review includes background checks and security interviews in accordance with the Security Protection Act. Swedish citizenship is a requirement.
