Statistician for the National Tests Group in Swedish and Swedish as a Second Language

The Department of Nordic Languages has over 100 employees and conducts research and teaching primarily about the Swedish language from various perspectives, but also about the Nordic neighboring languages.

The department includes the National Tests Group in Swedish and Swedish as a Second Language. The group has about 30 employees and works independently on behalf of the Swedish National Agency for Education to construct tests for both primary and secondary schools and adult education (Komvux). We are now seeking a statistician for the National Tests Group in Swedish and Swedish as a Second Language.

Job Responsibilities

The national tests are currently undergoing a comprehensive development process for quality assurance, and as a statistician, you will assist the test constructors in their daily work. You will primarily work on quality assuring the tests based on statistical models and perform statistical calculations of trial results that need to be analyzed as part of the test development.

Qualifications

You have an academic degree in statistics and experience with quantitative methods. Furthermore, you possess strong analytical skills that enable you to independently formulate and solve problems. You have good computer skills and experience working with statistical software such as R, Excel, and SPSS. Familiarity with psychometrics and the application of statistical models to analyze knowledge tests is important for the work. We also appreciate knowledge of test validation. Personal suitability will be given great importance, preferably documented in good references, such as accuracy, organizational skills, resilience under stress, and openness to new tasks.

Desirable/meritorious

We would like you to have an interest in school and education issues and the ability to present statistics simply to a group with varying levels of statistical knowledge. Familiarity with the work of the test group is meritorious.

About the Employment

The position is permanent, but a six-month probationary period may apply. The scope is 30%. Start date is 2026-03-01 or by agreement. Place of employment: Uppsala
