Your tasks

We are looking for an engaged and driven Youth Coach who wants to help create meaningful leisure activities and support young people in their personal development.

In the role of Youth Coach, you will be responsible for coaching young people towards self-organization. This means motivating them to organize activities and shape their own daily lives. The goal is to strengthen the young people's influence and self-determination, so they feel involved and can drive their own projects.

You will collaborate with municipal operations, associations, and organizations to create sustainable and meaningful activities. You will have the opportunity to help develop our operations and drive Ung Zon forward. With us, you will be part of an engaged team that is passionate about working with young people and believes in their abilities.

Since working hours are adapted to the needs of the youth, the main working hours are scheduled for afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Your workplace

Ung Zon is a newly established youth activity where young people aged 13 to 18 can meet, create, and develop together. Ung Zon is a merger of various youth activities aimed at creating a stronger and more united voice for young people in Linköping. By offering a wide range of activities and opportunities, all young people, regardless of background or interest, should have a place where they can develop and feel safe.

Through collaboration with associations, community organizations, and civil society, we open up new paths and create conditions for young people's self-organization. The starting point of the operations is a promoting activity where we place great emphasis on safety and security work.

Ung Zon is located in Berga, Ekholmen, Lambohov, Linghem, Ljungsbro, Malmslätt, Ryd & Skäggetorp. We are now looking for youth coaches for Berga, Lambohov, Ryd, and Skäggetorp. We are an open activity-driven operation where participation is voluntary and free of charge. We place great emphasis on ensuring that young people are active and co-creators of the activities.

We will continue the change work, and we are looking for you who find it exciting to explore new working methods and want to contribute to creating Sweden's leading youth activity.

You who are applying

We want you to have a post-secondary education relevant to the assignment, examples of education could be social pedagogy, leisure leader, or social and cultural analysis. To succeed in this role, we see that you have previous experience working with youth. For one of the positions, it is a plus if you have prior experience in music production and working in a recording studio.

You have knowledge of human rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Since the work involves many social contacts and collaboration, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

Meritorious:

  • Experience working in socio-economically disadvantaged areas.
  • Experience coaching young people to organize activities.
  • Knowledge of current research on youth and leisure activities as well as European principles and guidelines (the Charter).
  • Experience in area work or strategic safety work, e.g., SSPF work.

To succeed and thrive in this role, you need to be confident in yourself and have the ability to distinguish between the personal and professional. You have good self-awareness and are well aware of your strengths and areas for development in meeting with young people. You collaborate well with others and listen and communicate in a constructive manner. You have a good ability to handle conflicts and maintain your calm in pressured situations. The work involves many contacts with both young people and other actors, which requires you to take initiative and be socially active in professional contexts. To thrive with us, you need to have a good ability to adapt to changing circumstances, as no day is the same.

To thrive in the role, it is important that you believe in young people's abilities, can see their strengths, and are driven by the desire to support them in their personal and social development.
