Anesthesiologist at the Hospital in Ystad
REGION SKÅNESkåne län, Ystad

to apply for the job
Make a difference. Every day.
The hospital in Ystad is a medium-sized hospital located in southeastern Skåne, with easy commuting to both Malmö and Österlen. Approximately 1,000 people work here, and the hospital provides both emergency and planned healthcare. We have, among other things, an emergency department operating around the clock, maternity/birthing services, and intensive care services. The hospital is characterized by short decision-making paths and close collaboration. Our clinic consists of about 15 anesthesiologists.
We perform approximately 4,500 surgeries annually, of which about one-third are emergency procedures, including general surgery, colorectal surgery, gynecology, ear, nose, and throat (ENT), urology, and orthopedics. Our intensive care unit (ICU) has three intensive care beds and one to two intermediate care beds, equipped for advanced monitoring and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As an anesthesiologist with us, you will participate in a broad range of anesthesiology work from emergency care of both children and adults to planned surgeries, as well as working in the ICU and outpatient clinic. The anesthesiologists in Ystad are also responsible for inserting venous ports for a large portion of Region Skåne's patients. Supervising and training resident doctors and developing the operations is a natural part of the role. On-call duty is included in the position, and as the anesthesiologist on call, you will be the sole anesthesiologist at the hospital.
We are committed to strengthening our research in perioperative care and intensive care, where you will have good opportunities to be part of that development.
We value continuing education and professional development. As far as the needs and economy of the operations allow, we can offer opportunities for subspecialty training through, for example, SSAI (Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine) and participation in regional training days. We offer a workplace where the balance between work and private life is prioritized, and where job satisfaction and long-term commitment are central values.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a licensed physician with the authority to practice in Swedish healthcare and who has specialist competence in anesthesia and intensive care. Your language skills in Swedish correspond to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale. In Ystad, about 1,300 children are born each year, which requires good experience in handling obstetric complications.
We prefer that you have worked a few years as a specialist physician, though this is not a requirement. It is advantageous if you are experienced in ultrasound-guided blocks and care of newborns. Training in supervision and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is considered advantageous. Research experience is desirable but not a requirement.
As a person, you are responsible and have good collaborative skills. You are positive and enthusiastic about your work. Furthermore, you align with Region Skåne's values of being welcoming, driven, and caring, and you have a clear patient focus with an interest in driving improvement efforts. We expect you to have an interest in education and supervision. Personal suitability is highly valued.
We apply continuous selection. We warmly welcome your application today; we look forward to getting to know you!
