Who are we

The Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland is one of the six courts of appeal in the country. The court's main task is to review the cases and matters that are appealed from the five district courts in Västernorrland, Gävleborg, and Jämtland counties. In addition to handling cases, the court is tasked with educating clerks and assessors in the four-year judge training program. The court is also required to comment on legislative proposals, etc., that the government refers to the court, as well as to review cases that are appealed from the Legal Aid Authority.

The court is located in central Sundsvall and has approximately 55 employees. The Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland is a court that is constantly developing its working methods to meet citizens' demands for legal certainty, good service, openness, and accessibility. The work involves

As a summer clerk, your work will include participating in the preparation of cases and matters, attending hearings, writing proposals for judgments and decisions, and conducting legal research.

Qualifications

The criteria for applying for the position of summer clerk are that you have passed at least up to and including the sixth semester of the law program. You must have completed procedural law as well as criminal and civil law in the law program. You should have at least one semester left of the law program after the employment period.

You have good grades from completed parts of the law education as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing. Other important qualities are accuracy, analytical ability, good collaboration skills, and the ability to organize and plan your work.

Great importance will be placed on your personal letter and how you motivate your interest in working as a summer clerk at our court. After selection, shorter telephone interviews will be conducted. Since we want to give as many as possible insight into the court's operations, we will primarily prioritize applicants who do not have previous experience from similar work in the court.
