The Community Building Administration is responsible for catering and cleaning, exploitation, urban planning and building permits, parks and green spaces, streets, water, and waste. Here, over 300 employees work together to make Ystad a great municipality to live, work, and thrive in.

The Waste Management Unit is responsible for collecting municipal waste and garden waste from households. In addition, we work to increase recycling and create interest in sustainable consumption. Collection of grease, packaging from multi-family houses, and return paper is done by contractors, while other collections of food and residual waste, packaging, and return paper from single-family homes as well as sludge are done in-house. The Waste Management Unit currently consists of nineteen people who work with everything from collection to strategic work and communication.

The position of Waste Management Officer is a newly established position to complement our team. Are you the person we are looking for?

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Waste Management Officer in the Waste Management Unit, you will handle many customer contacts every day. A large part of the work will involve assisting both residential customers and managers and owners of multi-family houses as well as businesses with cases forwarded from Ystad Municipality's customer service, the newly established Ystad Direct. The cases may involve, for example, container placement, missed collections, ordering services according to the waste tariff, and complaints.

Planning is an important part of effective waste management. The Waste Management Officer has close collaboration with assistants, advisors, and operations to resolve customer cases as quickly and smoothly as possible. Since this is a newly established position, there may be a need to establish routines, guidelines, and checklists within the work area.

The work includes managing our operational system BFUS and keeping it up to date, known as system maintenance, which requires a deeper digital understanding. You should be comfortable handling Excel, tables, and lists to maintain system care and be able to extract statistics for others in the unit.

No task is too big or too small to move the operation forward. The position includes some administrative work such as sending letters, record-keeping, updating the contract database, and more.

The position will develop based on the future needs of the operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with at least a high school education. We prefer that you have a strong interest in the environment. You have previous experience in customer service and familiarity with customer-based operational systems such as BFUS, Fetchplanner, EDP Future/Mobile, or equivalent as assessed by the employer. A B driver's license is a requirement for the position. Previous experience in the waste sector and knowledge of applying legislation in daily operations is considered an advantage. Since the position involves customer cases regarding municipal waste management, it is advantageous if you have knowledge of municipal waste legislation and the municipality's waste regulations.

It is important that you, as a person, are quick to learn new things and have the ability to understand new areas. To thrive and succeed with us, you need to be good at engaging people, be pedagogical, self-driven, and have good collaboration skills. It is important that you have an interest in actively contributing to the continuous improvements of the operation and have the ability to see the big picture. You must have good communication skills and be able to express yourself well in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.

Additional qualities we value in you are that you are structured and creative but also flexible and able to prioritize when focus changes.

Furthermore, you have very good computer skills with a developed digital understanding.
