Teaching Assistants Wanted at Tullängsgymnasiet
We are looking for dedicated teaching assistants for a special high school for the deaf and hard of hearing, located at Tullängsgymnasiet. Do you want to work closely with students and contribute to their development? Then you are welcome to become part of our team.
About the Position
As a teaching assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other staff around a group of students. You are an important part of the educational work and contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. In this role, you support both individual students and groups and are present throughout the school day, in the classroom, during breaks, and in other school activities. The tasks may vary based on the students' needs and conditions, and you collaborate closely with the teacher to provide the best possible support for the students. The position may involve travel as a natural part of the job, including flights if necessary.
Examples of Tasks:
- provide individually tailored support for students with special needs
- work based on clear pedagogical principles
- collaborate with students' guardians, other staff at the school, and the residential home
- be present as support during core subjects
- be present as support during trips
About the Workplace
Tullängsgymnasiet is the only municipal special high school for the hard of hearing and deaf in the country. We offer an individualized education in a sign language environment, with a holistic view of learning and development aimed at further developing the student's communicative and social skills. Our goal is for the student to receive support in their learning through various individual adaptations that provide the best possible conditions for development both academically and socially. The special high school for the deaf and hard of hearing offers both national and individual programs. We work in a creative environment where the activities are an integrated and natural part. With us, students receive a four-year individualized education. For students who do not live in Örebro municipality, we offer residential accommodation.
Within the Preschool and Primary School Administration, approximately 4530 employees work. We meet the young people of Örebro from their first day in preschool to their last day in primary school. We are collectively responsible for contributing to creating equal opportunities for the young people of Örebro and laying the foundation for a lifelong learning journey. Qualifications
To succeed in this position, you need to enjoy meeting many different individuals and be comfortable in a daily life that can change rapidly. You have a good understanding of students' varying needs and adapt your approach to create safety and clarity. You work independently and take initiative while valuing close collaboration with colleagues and guardians. Through attentiveness and presence, you build trusting relationships. In this role, you will often handle situations that require you to rethink, find new solutions, and remain calm even in unexpected events. Your ability to create good relationships allows you to support students in a positive and structured manner. To succeed in your educational work, you need to master the Swedish language in writing so that you can document according to the requirements of the organization.

Requirements:
- relevant high school education, child and youth program or other relevant education for the assignment
- experience working with children and youth with disabilities
- good knowledge of sign language
Desirable:
- experience working in a special school setting
- experience working with students who are deaf/hard of hearing
- knowledge of tactile sign language, experience working with deafblind students
- driver's license (B)
