About Us
The Gothenburg Election Board, together with its secretariat, is the local election authority and conducts general elections and referendums on behalf of the parliament and the municipal council in accordance with applicable electoral law.
Job Description
The election board's secretariat in Gothenburg is now looking for individuals who can take on the responsibility of team leader within early voting during the general elections in 2026.
Being a team leader in early voting is an important and rewarding task to uphold our democracy and is based on trust.
On September 13, there will be elections for the parliament, regional council, and municipal council in Sweden, and from August 26, all voters will be able to vote early in locations throughout Gothenburg. In the polling places, election workers are employed to ensure that the election is conducted in a safe and secure manner. They assist voters with information, maintain order in the polling place, and are responsible for the registration of votes. The polling places are primarily open during the day, but evening and weekend hours are also available.
As a team leader, you are the election secretariat's extended arm to the polling places, you supervise the election workers and are responsible for the operation in the polling places during the day, evening, and weekends.
The election secretariat in Gothenburg will provide training sessions to give you good conditions to perform well together with the election workers during early voting.
In the early voting of 2026, digital elements will be introduced for receiving and registering votes. This means that the requirements for your digital skills are higher than in previous elections. Read more here (https://valcentralen.val.se/digitala-rostkort-och-moderniserad-fortidsrostning).

The work involves:
- planning the work ahead of the period by visiting early voting locations beforehand, planning the flow, and establishing contacts
- scheduling the election workers and filling vacancies with substitutes
- ensuring a good working environment and safe handling in the locations
- reporting back regularly to the secretariat and participating in weekly meetings at the election secretariat
- evaluating the election process together with the election secretariat
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has a societal interest and is structured and meticulous in following given laws and regulations. You should have experience leading people and be flexible and solution-oriented. Additionally, you should:
- have post-secondary education of at least 2 years
- have leadership experience such as employment as a manager, supervisor, or equivalent
- have a valid ID and e-ID
- be a Swedish citizen or have a work permit
- not be a candidate in the elections or be closely related to someone who is a candidate
- be fluent in speaking and writing Swedish
- be skilled at creating collaborations in groups
- be able to make quick decisions in pressured situations

It is meritorious if you have:
- experience working as an election worker or in election administration
- a driver's license and access to a personal vehicle
- language skills beyond Swedish and English
- experience working with people in stressful environments
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Please note that:
- The work cannot be combined with other full-time employment
- The work pace may at times be high
- There will be mandatory training sessions on-site in Gothenburg, two in June and three to four at the beginning of August, with homework in between
Conditions
The position is a temporary employment with hourly compensation starting in June.
Scope of the position:
- 5-6 training sessions during the day, two in June and three to four at the beginning of August. One mandatory evaluation meeting and possibly follow-up work during September.
- Full-time from August 24 to September 13
Compensation (taxable): 235 SEK/hour. Additional OB and vacation compensation apply.
