Software Developer at FRA

We are looking for technical and creative software developers for the development and maintenance of our collection systems. At FRA, every task is part of something bigger. Your Mission

As a software developer, you will work on the development and management of IT systems in the radio area. You will belong to a DevOps team in the technology department. You will work on development in distributed systems and use your analytical skills in a world that encompasses the entire chain of technology. The pace of technological development is fast, and you will work in several areas. The team is cross-functional, and we work with both backend and frontend, so there are good opportunities to broaden your skills. The team participates in all phases of the systems' lifecycle; from requirements gathering, design, development, operation, management, to decommissioning. We work agilely with inspiration from the SAFe model, and the work is done in close collaboration with clients and users of systems aimed at collecting radio communication.

The work is conducted in Linux-based systems using C++, JavaScript, and Python in close collaboration with systems engineers in the area. Troubleshooting and resolving both hardware and software issues is part of everyday life.

You will have contact with other departments within FRA and to some extent also external contacts where travel may occur.

You Can

We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least 3 years of academic education.
  • At least one year of programming experience.
  • Experience in programming in a Linux environment.
  • Good knowledge of C++ programming.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English. Strong ability to write and document.

We consider it an advantage if you meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Education in Signal Processing or Mathematics.
  • Experience in programming in distributed systems.
  • Experience as a team leader or scrum master.
  • Experience with SAFE or other agile methods.
  • Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, Ansible, Qt, Git, frontend development.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes clusters.
  • Good understanding of operation, installation, and management of large-scale systems.

More Information

The workplace is located near Drottningholm, about 10 minutes from Brommaplan. Swedish citizenship is a requirement as employment at FRA involves placement in a security class. A requirement for employment is a successful security clearance with a background check. The security clearance will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act. Employment comes with an obligation to be placed in wartime. We apply a six-month probationary period, and work samples may be used as part of the selection process.
