In our department, we care for patients in urology and vascular surgery. Our patients are both men and women of various ages who come to us due to acute conditions, cancer surgery, or elective care in the form of various surgical procedures. The urological procedures range from minor interventions in the urinary tract to nephrectomy and prostatectomy, as well as the largest surgical procedure at Helsingborg Hospital: cystectomy.

Our vascular patients undergo elective surgery and emergency surgery with both open surgery and endovascular treatment. The vascular surgical procedures include treatment of all vascular systems in the body except for the heart and brain. Our most common procedures are treatment of peripheral artery disease, aortic disease, and carotid disease. Many of our patients require ongoing care, which allows for genuine patient contact and continuity of care. We also care for patients in the end stages of life. Patients require both shorter and longer stays in the department, which means a constant change in the patient group and the care interventions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse, you will work alongside competent, friendly colleagues who have a strong focus on the patient and patient safety. We have clear roles in the collaboration around the patient's care. During the day, staff have set aside time for collaboration with the municipality via My Plans, Cooperation at Discharge (SVU), and operational staff who manage the flow around our care places. In addition, there is the opportunity for support from a dietitian, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and social worker in your daily work. To facilitate collaboration, we have daily team check-ins regarding patients. By working with us, you will gain broad knowledge and experience in urology and vascular surgery. You will also gain knowledge in emergency care within both urology, vascular, and other surgical diagnoses as we have a close collaboration with surgery.

We have a clinical nursing leader who will follow you as a new employee in the department with regular follow-ups during your introduction and serves as a support function. Additionally, we have scheduled training days for all staff, and you will have a full day every eighth week with your colleagues. During these occasions, you will be taught current topics to ensure you get what you need to develop in your workplace. If you are newly graduated, you have the opportunity to participate in Region Skåne's clinical foundation year. The clinical foundation year includes lectures, clinical skills training, and mentor meetings. We have a close collaboration with our outpatient clinic, where many of the nurses have previously worked in the urology ward. There is also the opportunity for further education in both urology and vascular surgery. Working hours and training are scheduled for day and evening. There is also the possibility to mix the schedule and work a few nights per schedule period, which gives you good opportunities to get to know the department. Weekend work occurs two out of five weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. If you have further education in urology or vascular surgery, it is an advantage for the position. Likewise, we see work experience in surgery and/or urology and vascular surgery as beneficial, as well as experience working in the Melior and Orbit systems.
