Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

The Health and Medical Care Administration's area of psychiatry consists of psychiatric inpatient care, adult psychiatric outpatient care, addiction treatment, and child and adolescent psychiatry.

Approximately 140 employees work within psychiatry. Our mission is to provide psychiatric specialist care to adults and to provide care for mental health issues for all children and adolescents up to 17 years of age.

The operation aims to offer a breadth of both competence and services, and we work according to a person-centered value base that is expressed in both patient interactions and in meetings between employees and leaders. We follow the nationally developed knowledge supports within mental health and work on implementing person-centered and cohesive care pathways as well as psychiatry's own care process maps.

The team for Intensive Contextual Treatment (IKB) is a co-located and integrated operation between the area of psychiatry in the health and medical care administration and the individual and family care in the social administration. IKB conducts intensive treatment for children and adolescents and their parents/caregivers, taking into account and involving the surrounding context such as schools and other networks. IKB is a method based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Functional Family Therapy (FFT). The target group is adolescents who have contact with both social services and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) aged 13-18 years.

With us, you will be well taken care of and receive a good introduction. We work with mentorship, and you will have your own mentor with whom you have regular check-ins and who provides support in your daily work. The team also has a team coordinator who works closely with employees and provides support in daily tasks.

Your Responsibilities

As a therapist in IKB, you work in a team with another therapist, where one is a family therapist and the other is directly linked to the adolescent.

Your tasks include working with skills training, behavior changes, etc. You will also receive regular supervision.

Collaboration with care neighbors, schools, and other agencies is a central part of the work. The role involves both independent work and teamwork, close to your colleagues. You will work during the day, sometimes with some evening shifts.

Who Are You?

You have an education as a social worker, psychologist, nurse, or education that the employer deems equivalent. Further education in basic psychotherapy CBT, DBT, and FFT is an advantage. Experience working with children and youth and experience in psychiatry is also meritorious.
