About the department and section

The Naval Department is a department belonging to the Naval Staff. The Naval Section Muskö is one of four sections belonging to the Naval Department, the other sections are located in Gothenburg, Karlskrona, and Visby. The task of the Naval Section Muskö is to support the operations of the Naval Staff at Muskö. The position is called systems technician and involves work with operation, maintenance, and development of the command and communication systems that the section supports. On-call duty is a natural part of the job. The section also participates in the Navy's exercise activities when they need extra technical support.

Main tasks

  • • Independently or in work teams carry out maintenance, troubleshooting, installation work, commissioning, modifications, and documentation on systems and equipment
  • • Work proactively with the development and maintenance of systems and equipment
  • • If necessary, you may need to act as a team leader in your function, collaborating with customers, suppliers, and supporting customers with technical questions

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • • 3-year upper secondary education with a focus on IT/Technical direction or equivalent knowledge that can be assessed as equivalent
  • • Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • • Experience working with IT-based systems and troubleshooting of these
  • • Driver's license *B***

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who has a strong commitment, is service-oriented, open, and social with good analytical skills. You have the ability to work independently as well as in a group and solve your tasks with high quality. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE

  • • Post-secondary education with a focus on networks and servers
  • • Experience in installation and configuration
  • • Experience with radio and communication systems
  • • Transmission technology, i.e., coaxial, fiber optics, etc.
  • • Information security
  • • Signal protection

Other

The employment is a civilian permanent position, full-time with an initial 6-month probationary period. The workplace is Muskö. The Naval Staff offers a commuter bus from central Stockholm to Muskö with several stops along the way. Unpleasant working hours and travel nationally and internationally may occur. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.

Leadership for a stronger defense aims to increase robustness, simplify command and obedience relationships, and through decentralization of mandates and responsibilities, increase the conditions for mission tactics. As part of this work, the Armed Forces has organized a Naval Staff for the command of the Naval units. The Naval Staff is established in Muskö in Haninge municipality.
