Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Hiring Security Officer
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding on, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.
The Umeå operational area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the Umeå detention center. We are undergoing significant capacity increases, and much is happening in the operational area in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also employ healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and more. At the Sörbyn prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry, horticulture, textiles, etc. The Sörbyn prison is an agricultural prison with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At the Umeå prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchen, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå prison and detention center are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and the Sörbyn prison is easiest to reach by car. Staff parking is available at all units.
