BT Region Uppsala

Foundation Training (BT) in Region Uppsala is conducted independently from the Specialist Training (ST). As a BT doctor, you will be employed by the BT unit, which has a regional mission. The unit is located at the Research and Development Department of Akademiska sjukhuset. The employment as a BT doctor is a fixed-term position for 12 months (BT training position).

Our BT begins with an introductory training program lasting four weeks. You will then serve in primary care, emergency care, and psychiatry. On-call and evening shifts occur during placements in emergency care and psychiatry. The service in primary care is located at health centers in various parts of Uppsala County. You should expect commuting to and from work during this placement.

Formal requirements to apply for BT

• You are subject to regulatory requirements for Foundation Training (BT).
• You have a Swedish medical license from the National Board of Health and Welfare.
• You have language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least C1 level.

Meritorious

Previous service as a licensed physician in Sweden is meritorious in this recruitment. Other relevant work in healthcare may also be meritorious. Previous service as a licensed physician in Region Uppsala is meritorious. Other previous experience of the healthcare organization in Region Uppsala may be meritorious. Completed education at the doctoral level (four years of full-time doctoral studies if you are a PhD) is meritorious.

Your competence

As a person, you are secure and self-aware. You have the ability to distinguish between personal and professional matters. You are meticulous and strive to meet goals and quality standards. You work well with others, are attentive, and resolve conflicts constructively. You make correct assessments and priorities, weigh complex information, and show judgment in actions and decision-making. You have good language skills in Swedish.

Your application should include

• A copy of your Swedish medical license from the National Board of Health and Welfare
• A copy of your diploma from your country of education
• Documentation proving language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least C1 level. If you have attended a Swedish high school, upload your high school grades.
• A CV showing your education and experience
• Three references
• Employment certificates proving previous employment. Other certificates may be accepted provided they are signed by a manager and that the period (year/month/day – year/month/day) is clearly stated.
• Documentation proving education at the doctoral level along with a reference list of published scientific works if you are a PhD or have a licentiate degree.

Interviews will be conducted at Akademiska sjukhuset during week 11, 2026.

The start of service for recruited BT doctors is planned for week 38, 2026.

In this recruitment, we plan to recruit eight BT doctors.
