Area of Women's Health

We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

Are you passionate about women's health care, just like us? Do you dream of becoming a midwife in the future or want to work with surgical care? Then we are the department for you!

The area of women's health includes two sections, the obstetrics section and the gynecology section. Within the gynecology section, we have our care department, gynecology ward 96C1, gynecological specialist clinics including the emergency department for gynecology, and the reproductive center. The obstetrics section includes the delivery department, maternity ward, and obstetric specialist clinics. We have close cooperation between our different units within the area and are proud of the care we provide to our patients throughout the Healthcare Region of Central Sweden.

At gynecology ward 96C1, approximately 1600 patients from the entire Healthcare Region of Central Sweden receive care each year. We are very proud to have been certified as a European center for advanced ovarian cancer surgery and operate on approximately 80-100 women with ovarian cancer each year. We also provide nationally specialized care for certain endometriosis cases, focusing on advanced surgery. Through our emergency department, patients of all ages with various gynecological conditions come for investigation, surgery, and treatment.

Your Mission

As a nurse in gynecology ward 96C1, you will care for patients who are being investigated and operated on for gynecological cancer and other gynecological diseases. You will also meet patients seeking acute gynecological care, for example, with infections or complications during early pregnancy, as well as those seeking abortion. With us, you work in a care team with nursing assistants and together with doctors and other health professionals.

Your Qualifications and Skills

You are a licensed nurse with a general interest in women's health care and surgical care. You are flexible, curious, and eager to learn, and possess good communication skills in both speech and writing. You thrive in a team but are also confident in making independent decisions. Experience in emergency care, women's health care, or surgery is an advantage but not a requirement.

We believe you will thrive with us if you value close collaboration, want to develop in your professional role, and appreciate a workplace where no day is the same as the other.

We Offer

We offer you a permanent position as a nurse at 100% in a workplace with strong collegial support and a culture where we help each other. The position involves rotating shifts during the day, evening, and night.

Introduction is planned based on your previous experience. As a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the professional introduction “clinical development year” as part of your initial time at Akademiska sjukhuset. KUÅ provides in-depth knowledge and conditions for a good start in your new professional role as a nurse. The training constitutes 20% of your working time in the first year, with maintained salary.

We also offer ongoing continuing education during employment where you will, among other things, participate at least once per schedule period in our own digital “Gynecological Basic Course”.

We have a workplace where we all place great value on collaboration, community, and well-being. Together, we create a good working environment where you as an employee are an important part of driving and developing the operations forward to provide the best care for our patients.

Do not wait with your application as the position may be filled continuously. With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
