Our Operations
The National Center for Women's Peace (NCK) at Uppsala University, in collaboration with Akademiska sjukhuset, has a government assignment to raise national awareness about men's violence against women, honor-related violence and oppression, violence in same-sex relationships, and male victims of violence. The government assignment also includes providing support to victims of violence, which is done through four national support lines and a chat function. The four national support lines are the Women's Peace Line, Men's Support Line, Transgender Support Line, and Right to Choose. The support is aimed at victims of violence, but relatives, colleagues, or professionals are welcome to contact the support lines for help and support.
Your Mission
Your main task is to provide professional support to individuals of all ages who are subjected to psychological, physical, sexual, and/or economic violence, via phone or chat. In conversations via phone or chat, you will also support relatives and professionals who need guidance and assistance to help those who are victims of violence. Your role involves being a support person for individuals in crisis or difficult life situations, focusing on providing support regarding their victimization and guiding them to the right support and help.
All national support lines are open 24/7, which means scheduled working hours and rotation day/evening/night as well as weekend shifts. The work requires a physical presence at the workplace, which is located in Uppsala, and there is no possibility for remote work. To develop in your professional role, you will receive internal training and the opportunity to participate in the organization's seminars. The work also includes regular supervision.
If you want to read more about the assignment, visit NCK's website, Start - National Center for Women's Peace (NCK) - Uppsala University (https://www.uu.se).
Your Competence
We are looking for a licensed nurse or social worker, with professional experience and experience in meeting people in crisis. It is an advantage if you have previous experience in crisis conversations, counseling, and providing support via phone or chat, MI training, university education focusing on men's violence against women and violence in close relationships, as well as previous experience in meeting and supporting victims of violence in your professional role as a nurse or social worker. Communication on the national support lines takes place via a web-based IT system, so it is helpful if you are computer literate.
Great importance will be placed on personal suitability, good collaboration skills, the ability to handle crises and difficult situations, clarity in conversations, and the ability to establish a good relationship with those seeking support through digital and verbal communication.
We Offer
We offer a permanent position at Akademiska sjukhuset with immediate start or as agreed. A probationary period may apply, and salary is offered according to Region Uppsala's salary policy. We see no disadvantage in you combining work on the support lines with other work that fits well with irregular working hours. The degree of employment up to 100% can be discussed based on needs. In connection with the introduction, specific training for the organization will be offered.
