At the Neuro- Head- Neck Center (NHHC), approximately 650 people work today with various aspects of investigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of diseases and injuries affecting the nervous system, brain, ears, nose, throat, and maxillofacial surgery. The basis for our operations is patients in need of highly specialized care for northern Sweden.

The neurology department is the regional clinic for neurology in Norrland, and our catchment area extends from Kiruna in the north to Sundsvall in the south. Since we provide specialist care, we accept patients from all over the country for certain diagnoses.

Here, both planned and emergency services are provided, with the patient always in focus. We have a large patient flow, which means patients with short hospital stays. We work in teams where nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers collaborate in the care of each individual patient. A dietitian, speech therapist, and psychologist are also connected to the operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an occupational therapist with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure.

As an occupational therapist, you will work with assessment and evaluation in the neurology department and neurology outpatient clinic. The work is carried out both independently and in multidisciplinary teams. Contact with other partners is included. We expect you to contribute to the development of the operations.

Patients with various neurological diseases and symptoms come to the care department. The most common diagnoses are concussion, movement disorders, motor neuron diseases, and epilepsy. The occupational therapist meets patients for assessment and evaluation, participates in care planning, and prescribes assistive devices prior to discharge/homecoming.

The outpatient clinic is a planned service where patients are called for regular appointments. The occupational therapist is part of primarily two teams that work with motor neuron diseases and movement disorders, respectively. Other neurological patient groups are seen based on need. The role of the occupational therapist is to help patients' daily activities function as well as possible here and now, while also considering future needs. You become somewhat of a problem solver, which creates room for varied tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a licensed occupational therapist. Experience in neurology is desirable but not required.

As a person, you are secure in your professional role and have good self-awareness. You need to be able to work independently and have the ability to make decisions and judgments while also valuing teamwork. You work in a structured manner and plan your work efficiently, but you can also adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
