Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Tysslinge

SiS Youth Home Tysslinge, located outside Södertälje, receives non-compulsory school boys with psychosocial issues as well as criminality and substance abuse.

SiS Youth Home Tysslinge is in a development and expansion phase as we have reopened one of our departments. We are therefore looking for several treatment assistants for permanent employment. SiS Youth Home Tysslinge is an institution of the highest security classification that receives young people with high risks of threats, violence, and absconding. The institution has a total of seven departments that receive young people placed under the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU) and young people sentenced under the Act on Secure Youth Care (LSU). One of the departments consists of places for young people who are cared for in isolation (VIE) for a period.

In the role of treatment assistant, you work in a team and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people in our care receive the structure, safety, care, and treatment they need. We meet young people in crisis, which means we support the individual in their daily life through individually tailored and qualified care and motivational work with clear structures. With the support of your and your colleagues' knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the implementation of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work for planning and follow-up of treatment. During daytime, you also function as a teaching assistant and participate in the young people's schooling and leisure activities.

Since SiS Youth Home Tysslinge has the highest security classification within SiS, it means that you need to work with high risk awareness. You contribute to maintaining safety in accordance with our written instructions and routines.

The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied. As a public servant, it is important that you act professionally and in accordance with objectivity and legal certainty. As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training. In the training, theory is combined with a guided introduction, and the training prepares you for the treatment role in SiS's operations.

The employment begins with a mandatory introductory week, which is a prerequisite for starting work in the department. The training will be on-site in Tysslinge.

Working Hours

The working hours are scheduled according to a roster day, evening, and weekend at 100%. The working hours will vary and may look as follows: 08:15-15:45, 08:15-22:15, 09:00-22:15, 11:15-21:15. The majority of our shifts are long but with more days off as compensation.

Qualifications

We strive for a staff group with diverse competencies in treatment work. You should be a secure, adult role model for the young people and work according to the authority's guidelines. To succeed in your work, you have a humanistic view of people. You are motivated to support people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a very good ability to create good relationships, engagement, and participation among our young people. As a person, you are secure in yourself and contribute to a good working environment with other staff. You have good communication skills, can maintain your calm even in pressured situations, and consistently follow laws, regulations, and routines. You also find it easy to collaborate with different professions and internal and external partners and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

As a treatment assistant, you should have:

  • Completed upper secondary education
  • Experience in youth-related work
  • Good Swedish in speech and writing
  • Degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or a degree from a university that we assess as equivalent.

Meritorious:

  • Driving license B
  • If you have experience working with young people in vulnerable situations
  • If you have training in MI (motivational interviewing)

Based on the new Social Services Ordinance (Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468)), we only employ individuals who meet the requirements of at least a two-year post-secondary education with special exceptions. In such cases, these individuals will be employed as treatment assistants.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Employment:

Permanent employment, 6-month probationary period applies.
Scope: Full-time, irregular working hours
